As we all know mind is one of the most important parts of our body. Many of us know its importance but are careless and take it for granted as we do with each part of our body. To make our mind be in harmony with body and soul. Here are ten important things which one should practice. 1) Too much or repetitive work or doing something monotonously leads to boredom and makes us feel fatigued leading to dissatisfaction, irritation, unhappiness thus there is no scope for contentment. What we need do to to break this cycle of monotony is to do some thing or activity which serves as a healthy distraction it can be socializing, spending time with the family, spending some time alone, doing meditation, looking at greenery or natural water bodies, animals, birds or aquatic life or insects minutely or pursuing any sport or hobby which makes you feel refreshed and happy. 2) Continually coming to know of new things or learning something everyday makes you feel you have known something worthy. Not only this it helps the mental faculties grow. It is like giving manure to a plant and nourishing it. 3) Be careful of not over eating as it proves to be a stress buster for the mind. If we are too tired or taxing our mind with lots of work we feel the urge to eat and end up going to a hotel or a to the kitchen in the house and look for something to eat or munch and overeating without our knowledge as it feel nice. Over a period of time this activity leads to getting overweight due to sedentary lifestyle which many of us have. 4) Do not keep thinking about something which keeps troubling your mind if you cannot practically cannot do anything about it or have done your best. Just do the best and leave the rest to happen and run its course. If the results are bad try to improve it for this learn to accept it first for what it is worth. See that you are not boxed into such situations by circumstances. Think before you act and look before you leap into something. 5) Despite the best of our efforts and planning things go haywire in life. Think of it not as a problem but as a challenge and do not mull on the situation we are in but think about plan B or plan C or start planning so if you have no planning in hand. When your mind starts to do something constructive its stress gets reduced. Maybe there will be repetitive failure waiting to happen but take it in your stride and march on. 6) One of the biggest reasons of almost more than ten percent of the world suffering from mind related are related to stress, worry, anxiety, loss of attention, over thinking, not giving the mind any breaks, unhealthy lifestyle and taking more than what we can afford to and during work or business and the most important thing of all not having sufficient healthy sleep which is mandatory for any living being. 7) Reserve some time as a mandatory practice in breaks to do some brain exercises some of these are breathing, eye moment, looking at something you have not looked before especially with regarding to pictures or some reading material. It has to be totally new and which you have not heard and tried in your life before. 8) Do things or activities which are unlike your regular behavior pattern and which will set your circuit thinking on a different tangent and you should be involved and interested in this activity you pursue. Do not do things just for the sake of doing. 9) Remember the games which you liked the best as a child or some thing new which you started liking and do the same for a few minutes between. It can be a funny tongue twister which makes you lighten up, it can be a drawing some cartoons even if your drawing is not too good. Or playing with numbers or performing some calculations with you mind and not by writing them down at all. 10) Be among the young crowd in your place of work or in your house or neighborhood try to understand and be with them. This will help you be with the present thought process and times and make your mind grow and stay healthy and young. It will help you not to turn into a dinosaur among the present generation. Obviously you will learn a lot due to their different thought process and age difference.

I am revisiting this article to share some some more interesting experiences of how one can practice to have a healthy mind. Keep a small diary or note where you can download all the things and thoughts which are causing stress and tension in your mind. You can also prepare a list of people with whom you spend time and you feel your stress and tensions get reduced. Keep reviewing the list as you may need to alter the list too as time progresses. As not everything in life is permanent or static.
One can spend time with children at orphanages or elders at old age homes too on a regular basis and build a rapport with them. You can share your time which is the most important thing with these people and children as many others will be sending funds or donations towards charity but not many have the time and the inclination to keep in touch with what is happening in their lives. You do not need to go there regularly it can be once a month or once a week on a particular day or week as per your convenience. While some may feel this is a selfish behavior it is not so. As there is a give and take involved.
The person who is meeting the people mentioned above is also getting some relaxation by helping others and the elders and the children also feel happy that they are being attended to and feel that there is someone who has some time to meet and share with them their happiness and sorrows. It thus builds a emotional relationship which is lacking among these individuals. Hope this information is helpful to readers. I will add more methods to practice for a healthy mind again. |
