India is celebrating its 68th Republic Day today and the festivities in the national, state and other parts of the country have concluded. Today is a  day on which India which gained Independence on 15 August 1947 became a Sovereign, Democratic, Republic state with the adoption of the Constitution on 26 January 1950. The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent  Assembly on the 26 November 1949 and came into effect on the 26 January 1950. Thus with a democratic government system which completed the transition towards becoming an Independent Republic. We are where we are today.

It is a day of celebrations for the nation which attained complete Independence from the British Empire. Today the country’s democratic institutions, culture, tradition, developments in different fields and the might of the Indian army is reflected in the parade at the New Delhi the national capital. It is a reflection of how much we have to developed and need to be happy about but is also a day on which the President of India who takes the salute at the parade also honors the national hero’s especially the people of the armed services who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the motherland.

The day is not only a day of celebrations but a day of introspection. Why I say this is due the attitude of many among us of treating this as another holiday, a day which we should simply plan a outing so that we can enjoy and relax so that we will be ready the next to attend to our day to day lives. It basically means it is one more day of merry making. One does not have to wear a badge of patriotism on his sleeve neither does one need to do ritualistic or symbolic activities, attending seminars, programs hearing or giving speeches all of which are only to be forgotten the next day conveniently and life will be back to normal as usual.

It is a day for each and every Indian to think what he or she has done to help the motherland which has given us everything, without expecting anything in return since the last year. There are two days  basically every six months to analyze what one has done in that period selflessly for the nation as a son of the soil. It may be helping an Indian or an organization involved in transforming some particular aspect of  the country or it can be to do some charity either physically or monetarily to the best of our limited ability in our limited way, it can also be taking up a issue which is troubling the common man and trying to do the best we can to mitigate the suffering.

By creating awareness on issues like health, safety, sanitation, education, social welfare, helping the people who are unwell, aged, those having health issues, trying to understand people who are having problems related to mind, body and soul, providing counselling in the field where we have some level of expertise, or at least giving a patient hearing to people in different forms of difficulties as majority of the people cannot afford counselors.

The issues the country faces are unlimited and a lot of the population will be working hard to make ends meet even today. Both in the organized and  unorganized sectors. For many people and their families they struggle for even one square meal a day. Children who are the country’s future and the best human resource are often neglected and their skills not honed. A large section of families and their  children are not getting the facilities which one is entitled to as per the constitution in different fields.

While the governments at the centre and the state do their work, but at many places they are lagging behind their own set targets and they have to increase the pace to reach the objectives which they have set out to achieve. While it is good to be happy on developments which are positive one cannot sit and gloat over it. They alone cannot fulfill the task as it is enormous. People should also help.

But on this day one very crucial issue which all of us as Indian’s have to decide. What do we do with anti nationals, agencies working to damage the nation, organizations which spread hate and dangerous ideas and philosophies which damage the fabric of the nation. Those people, groups, parties, associations who tirelessly work with full enthusiasm to  damage the image of the country and potray it in negative light in front of the world.

We have to decide what do we do of those NGO’s, Paid Press and reporters, hoarders of black money and ill gotten wealth, about some people who hold constitutional posts and use it to milk the nation of all its resources and shamelessly like termites eat into vitals of the nation.

Those parties who do not want to declare where funding is coming from clearly. Last but not least organizations like those who indulge in terrorism, bomb blasts and armed or resistance movements. The law has to be stern, political will should be there and the concerned law enforcement agencies should catch them and severe punishment as per law has to be enforced instantly their backs have to be broken.

It has to be seen that cases do not drag for years and they do not sit in jails and plot the next terror activity and eat biryani and waste tax payers money or nations money. Dear readers request you to think about this, share these thoughts and review it again on 15 August 2017 during Independence Day. Have a happy Republic Day. Jai Hind.

A good blog with good insight and analysis. It is a pity that the country is suffering from many problems which were not paid attention to by the earlier government and remained to be solved by the new government under the present Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modiji. He has been doing and putting forth his best for the development and towards the development. Unfortunately, the irresponsibles are always there to undo his efforts. But, the people of India are always there to support him in all his activities. Thank you once again for the good blog.
