29.RADISH CHUTNEY

INGREDIENTS

½ kg radish without leaves

4 walnut kernels

1 small cup of sour curd

Salt to taste

5- 6 green chillis

METHOD: Wash, scrape and cut radish into small pieces. Crush radish, green chillis and walnut well or you can coarsely grind in a mixer. Add curd and salt and beat well. Serve with rice or chapatti and enjoy the taste of this Kashmiri delicacy.

 

HEALTH AND NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION

It is a nutritive dish and can be cooked in a short time. Radish is one of the very low calorie root vegetables, it is pungent in smell and can taste sweet too. It has a lot of juice and are very tasty when crisp and are served usually as a salad too. It provides 16 calories per 100 grams.

It has very low fat and cholesterol, it has sodium, potassium, carbohydrate and protein too but the last one is very limited. It consists of vitamins C, B6 and magnesium too. Walnuts are good for the brain and the dish on the who is a light weight dish and very healthy. In the south of India they have chutney with idli or dosa too.
