Formed in 1956, the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists is an international registered society of disabled artists wholly owned and run by the artists themselves to meet their financial needs. Members paint with brushes held in their mouth or between their toes as a result of a disability sustained at birth or through an accident or illness that prohibits them from using their hands.

With over more than 800 members spread across 74 countries, the objective of the MFPA Association is to bring to the forefront the aesthetic creations of its disabled artists by providing them a platform to express their artistic talent. By offering financial and creative support, the Association instills in its members a sense of freedom, self respect and dignity as well as an opportunity to earn an independent, honest and secure livelihood through the sale of their artwork.

This is  reproduced in the form of greeting cards, calendars and other delightful merchandise which can be used by the buyers on wonderful occasions during the whole year such as festivals, birthdays, anniversaries and the new year. It can also be used to write a note to someone special for a very special occasion to make the right impact. The Indian chapter of the Association currently supports 21 artists from across the country. The story of each and every artist is an inspiration for all of readers to know and understand what one goes through life in such situations and how one can emerge a winner in life. At they say “Where there is a Will there is a Way”.

Given below are the snapshots of the life of one of the artists. Name is not being mentioned  for reasons of privacy, hope readers will appreciate this. We would have heard of many people with disabilities having difficulties with day to day living even for minute things which we may not have thought of, or will by Gods grace find it very easy to do as we are able bodied. What we will read will help us appreciate the true talent gained against all odds. My salute to these artists.

She was born in one of the southern states of India without both her arms. However, even as a child, she started to perform all her daily chores with her feet and soon she took up to drawing and painting with her feet. She is now an accomplished foot painter and has participated in several art exhibitions in India and abroad. She is a member of this association since 17 years.

Whenever we find someone like this and many others with difficulties and physical disabilities, if they are good at art and paining we can always show our appreciation by promoting about them and their art through our writings and help spread their word so that their merchandise gets sold and they get what they are worth as an artist. Hope readers appreciate this. If your agree please like and share the article with friends, relatives and others.
