Dua means supplication or asking Allah for blessings, forgiveness for our sins and fulfilment of our needs. There are many duas that have been taught in the Holy Quran and others by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. These duas are beautiful, comprehensive and cover all aspects of human life.

Dua’ for Increase in Knowledge “Rabbi Zidni Ilma’ [surah Ta-Ha; 20:114] “O my Lord! increase me in knowledge.”
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ. used to say in the supplication in the morning prayer: ‘Allaahumma innee assaluka ilman nafia, wa rizzqan tayyeebun, wa amalan mutaqabilan,.’ ‘O Allah indeed I ask You for beneficial knowledge, and a good Halal provision, and actions which are accepted.’ Ameen.

Dua’ for Stress and Hardship: Anas (ra) said that when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. was faced with a serious difficulty, he would always supplicate, “Ya Hayyu, ya Qayyumu, bi-rahmatika astaghithu” (O the Living, O the Eternal, I seek help in Your Grace).” Source: Tirmidhi I recite this short dua often in times of stress and distress. |

Dua for cure from disease: It was narrated from Aa’isha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when any of us fell sick, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would wipe him with his right hand then say: “Remove the harm, O Lord of humankind and heal him, for You are the Healer and there is no healing except Your healing, with a healing which does not leave any disease behind).” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5675) and Muslim (2191).
This is one of the most comprehensive prayers that i have ever come across because it asks not only for cure from the disease but also from all side-effects and lasting effects of the illness. With children and elderly people in the house, this is one of my favourite supplications for health and cure from various diseases. |

Dua for a pious family: “Our Lord! Bestow on us from our spouses and our offspring the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders of those who have Taqwa.” [Surah Al-Furqan, 25:74]
This is such a beautiful and complete prayer for having solid family relationships and children who are on the right path. Listen to a beautiful lecture from Nauman Ali Khan regarding this dua. |

Dua for Parents: This is a special dua taught in the Holy Quran that every person should ask for his parents. This dua is preceded by a command by Allah to be respectful towards parents and never address them harshly or with rude manners. “And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], “uff,” and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.”
