Recently, I heard a very inspirational speech and would like to share some salient points here. I hope these words bring you hope , cheer and joy too.

The universe is built on the cycle of night and day….reflected not just in skies but also in our every day lives.

When challenging times find their way into your life, remind yourself that absolutely nothing is permanent other than existence of temporary.

Anticipate clear skies, sunlight and positivity. Anticipate light at the end of the tunnel. Remember energy follows thoughts.

Life will bring many trials, tests and tribulations. Some days it will flow smoothly while on others it will take you down rocky paths…leaving you very little to hang on to.

Tests are what make life beautiful because it is the trying times that help you learn the richness in contentment.

Not sure about tests making the life beautiful though. I would prefer them once every 5 years 🙂

Have a great day.

@Dawnwriter  Thank you dear for sharing such beautiful thoughts with us! Life is a series of ups and downs. But most of us get disheartened by the challenges in our life. This reminds me of a lovely quote by the great sufi poet Rumi:

If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?’

@Dawnwriter  As a motivational worker in my organisation I have certain borrowed motivational thoughts  like, “Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any”.

@suny  Most of the problems in our life arise due to the way we react to situations and people. More than often, we react rather than respond. There is a subtle difference between reacting and responding which we fail to recognize.

I just saw a very beautiful video . It is about an ordinary man who has an extra ordinary heart. He does simple things and yet those things have a huge impact on those around him.

While walking down the street he puts a pot under a leaking drain pipe so that other passers-by do not get wet. He shares his food with a hungry dog. He gives his money to a beggar woman and her daughter. He quietly puts a bunch of bananas outside the door of his old neighbor. He helps a woman push her heavy food cart across the street. For doing these simple acts of kindness, he gets nothing and yet he gets everything. It is a matter of perspective.

The hungry dog becomes his best friend. Flowers grow in the pot under the leaking drainpipe around which butterflies flutter. The beggar woman sends her daughter to school. The food vendor pays it forward and gives away food to a needy. The old neighbor lady gives him a big hug.

I had tears in my eyes while I was watching this video. It is true that every day we have the opportunity to help others. We can share a meal with a hungry person without going hungry ourselves. We can clothe a cold homeless guy, quietly help someone in need.

We do not become rich from helping others but our life and soul does get enriched.

Sometimes when I am sad or just feeling blue, I read inspirational quotes and they always help me to get in better spirits. There is so much wisdom in a single sentence that I can only marvel at the depth of the perception and intelligence of the people who said these words.

Today I read a few quotations on Hope and they were so profound that I decided to share them here:

Once you choose hope, anything’s possible. ~Christopher Reeve

When the world says, “Give up,” Hope whispers, “Try it one more time.” ~Author Unknown

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. ~Anne Lamott

Hope never abandons you, you abandon it. ~George Weinberg

Hope is like a road in the country; there was never a road, but when many people walk on it, the road comes into existence. ~Lin Yutang

What’s your favourite quotation about hope or life in general?

This thought should help people specially those who judge others

“Judge not another but judge within and there you will find enough of sin”

So true @bestwriter.

If we just pause before saying something and think about our words, there will be much less ugliness in this world. This reminds me of a quote I read:

“Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates:

At the first gate, ask yourself “Is is true?”

At the second gate ask, “Is it necessary?”

At the third gate ask, “Is it kind?”

~ Rumi

@Dawnwriter after reading your post I was so inspired that I have started a blogpost with inspirational quotes. I am writing my own thoughts for now but I will certainly mention some famous ones too. Incidentally, I am doing this in my local language and intend to run adsense on that (it is allowed)

May 16, 2016 at 10:41 am

@sunil Good for you.

What is your local language, if I may ask? If it is Urdu, I would like to read your blog too.

May 16, 2016 at 10:44 am

@Dawnwriter I can speak Urdu but I am Punjabi however the blog I have started is in Hindi because Hindi is an approved language with over one billion people speaking it allover the world. I will be glad to show it to you as I am posting one photo with each quote taken by myself.

@dawnwriter

Somerset Mahgham in one of his writing had said that one does not have to unnecessarily frank.

We all have choices but we choose the wrong ones.

@sunil Hehe, I am a Punjabi too but from this side of the border:-)

Too be more specific, I am a Lahori and as they say:

Jinne lahore naye takya woh jamya nahin

🙂

@Dawnwriter That side was once this side or you can better put it this way we belong to same land. I have never been to Lahore so far but my forefathers did. Even now my original place is under 300 km away from Lahore and my grandfather came with family to Kurukshetra as early as in 1930 now in Haryana state of India.

I love reading and collecting quotations because they inspire and motivate me. Sometimes they make me see things differently. Here are a few of my favourites.

1) If malice or envy were tangible and had a shape, it would be the shape of a boomerang…Charley Reese

2) The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. The first to forget is the happiest.

3) To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funnybone.

4) Never trust someone who will just get up and tell you another person’s story or secrets, cause they’ll share yours just the same.

5) The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.

6) Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

And my favourite:

7) Be nice to people on your way up because you’ll meet them on your way down…How true is that!

Which one did you like best?
