Importance of Drying Centi-leaf and Curry leaf
Author | Posts |
We know about curry leaves and centy leaves. They are very important leaves which when left fresh will in no distant time spoil and decay. You won’t feel like using it again due to the colour of the decayed leaves. Knowing the importances of these leaves, my mother who could not be buying this everyday came up with a method I will like to share with you. My mother who’s in love with centileaf and curry leaves due to food she used them as spices came up with a plan on how to keep it good till the time she’s gonna use it. The first day she did it she was impressed with her new findings and till now she has always continued doing it. Instead of buying curry leaf and centileaf whenever you need it, it is better you use this method to save money. Go to the market, buy enough of them at once. Buy the leaves in large quantities, wash them and start preparing it for slicing. After slicing it to your choice size differently. You use two different trays for each of the leaves and start drying. Do not dry under the sun. Why? When you dry under the sun, the leaves loses its scent and become just chaff. It doesn’t apply any taste to the food being cooked. The best way to dry is drying under the fan in your room. When you dry it under the fans in your room, it gradually dries and still retains the scent but when dried under the sun, it dries so quickly taking away the scent.
After drying it. Make sure no one has any moisture content by feeling it. When you feel it with your hand and all of them seems to be dry, you are done. Get two small containers and feel each of them with each of the leave differently and use it anytime you want to use it. By doing these, you can save your leave for upto 1 year and it still will not decay, it’s scent remains intact for long. Centileaf can be used to cook noodles, beans, stew, sauce, soups and gives nice taste to them. The curry leaves are used for giving scents to sauce(stew) and also soups. What’s your say? Do you believe in my mother’s method. Give it a try……

You are right my friend. Centi-leaf can be used for cooking stew, cooking noodles and other things. BBut I guess the uses is here but the only thing we don’t get from the article is the health benefit and I very well know that these leaves apart from its nice scent has many health benefits every other edible leaves have like provision of minerals and vitamins A stew without curry leave or curry powder is scent less. Such food have no scent and definitely will not have a nice taste.
