It’s embarrassing, it’s frustrating and it’s also just confusing—seriously, how hard is it to just reply?!
Unfortunately, texting and other forms of digital communication actually count as legitimate forums for building relationships now, so not getting a text back is always going to be upsetting, especially if it’s your crush who’s refusing to respond.
While we know you’ll still be bothered that you never received a reply, keep scrolling to read all the reasons you really shouldn’t be.
It Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Anything
While it’s frustrating not to get a response from your crush, it also doesn’t necessarily mean anything. It could be that they’re doing stuff with family, or that they’re hanging out with friends and don’t feel like having a conversation right now. Texting definitely counts as talking and opens the door for you to expand your relationship with someone, but there are a million reasons why someone might not text you back. Freaking out about the lack of a response is only going to result in you being bitter and upset, which is just a waste of your time and energy.

It’s Not That Hard
While things come up and life definitely gets busy, sending a text just isn’t that hard. It takes about 30 seconds of your time to type up a quick reply and let someone know that you’re on their mind. If your crush can’t even do that , how many other things would they drop the ball on if your relationship were to grow into something more?
You Know Where You Stand With Them
While not getting a response from your crush can feel devastating, it’s also a great indication of where you stand with them. You’re not on their mind enough to make texting you a priority, and if they never text back it’s a pretty clear sign that they’re just not interested. It’s hurtful and embarrassing, but wouldn’t you rather know now? This way you’re not wasting weeks or months of your life wondering how they feel about you, and you can instead start down the path of finding someone new to obsess over.

You Don’t Want Someone Who Doesn’t Want You
If your crush truly is avoiding you because they’re not at all interested in pursuing a relationship, it’s worth mentioning that you shouldn’t want to be with someone who doesn’t want to be with you. It’s so easy to get caught up in your feels and start whining to your friends about how things would be so different if they just got to know you, but if someone isn’t interested in putting in the same time and effort as you are, the best thing you can do for yourself is say good riddance and leave them in your rearview.
You’re Too Good for It
Everyone has certain traits and attractions that make them valuable to the people around them. Aka everyone is literally too good to spend their time worrying about someone who can’t see their worth—including you. There are plenty of people in the world who can acknowledge how incredible you are, so why are you letting the one person who can’t, make you feel frustrated or upset? You shouldn’t care that your crush doesn’t text you back, simply because you’re too good for it, and that’s that.
