Anyone else thinks a hard or soft bound book is better than reading online?

technology of course is taking over and in place of the new-book smell we have the pages of a book under our finger tips at lesser cost and better accessibility. Although it’s indeed a great idea to have those literature ready at our disposal, who else in here still thinks that books are better than ebooks? Cause I do. I love how each book i have look great in my shelf.

It is good that you have a copy of the book you are reading, although it could be good when you have a PDF copy in your mobile. I still love to have the hard bound and will read it again and again. |

I agree with you! I actually love being able to have a book in my hands when I’m reading. It’s a really fun nostalgic feel for me, if I’m honest. I don’t know, there’s just something different about having the pages in your hands. |

I used to find that having a book in my hands was great, but after I have digital copies of what I wanted to read on my Kindle for free; there were no turning back for me. My house is now smaller and had to give all the books away when we moved in December. It also kept me on my budget to search for free books, rather than spending the money that I don’t have extra. |

thanks guys! it seems we all can agree that books are great be it in the form of ebook and books. 🙂 nice to know a lot of people still care about learning new things. right? |

I love reading books and also love to collect them. That’s why maybe i prefer the hard copy books rather than digital one. But when i need to conside the efficiency, like when i’m traveling, its not convinience to bring lots of books, so the digital is the best options – although i’m still bring at least 2 hard copy books 😛 |

I prefer hard copies to reading online. I have a kindle but I don’t enjoy reading on it. Reading a real book is the best. Nothing can substitute the pleasures of reading a real book. |

I don’t really like to read books on-line at all. I have a large collection of hardback books. There is nothing like being able to read and hold an actual book. I don’t think they will ever go out of style. |

I still prefer reading books and flipping the pages, I like to get cozy in one corner and just read. |

@icybc It is so kind of you to give away your books. Sometimes living a simplified and minimalized life, it’d be better to have less stuffs at home, including books. Good that you enjoyed reading the digital copies with your kindle as well. I am also thinking of giving away some books that I no longer read. Though it might be nice to have a small library at home, it would be better to live in a simple home. Moving to smaller house might be a good choice, especially for minimalist.
I do read a lot online, as there are so many good articles and resources online for free, so I don’t need to spend much money on buying books. But, I still enjoy the feeling of reading a physical book and flipping it as well. Moreover, I do not really allow my children to use the computer, so I always buy them books instead of let them read online. Reading a book to the children is so much enjoyable and the reading time together is such a great bonding activity as well. I just can’t imagine our family sitting together reading the ebooks on our own device, that’s just different atmosphere. 😀 |

@Lee Ka We have children story books, two to three shells full to the ceiling! I donated them to the local library, and some to the Salvation Army! Our house now is small enough for me to manage and keep cleaned. There is no extra rooms or storage space to keep anything. I want to live a simpler life, less stuffs, and only the necessaries! |

I love reading and I really prefer to have the book in hand. Lately, I have been downloading and reading them on my phone since I have been finding free ones. I do have a collection of certain authors and books that I have the hard copy so that they can be displayed on a shelf. I love the smell of books and being able to turn the page. There is just something about holding the book that seems to make the story that much more real. |

honestly, I have never read stories online like ebooks which are popular. I do not know where to find any children stories to read. I prefer to read hard paper back story books, children fable stories by Enid blyton’s ,Mark Twain, these are good books to occupy my time. In addition, I also read stories to my boy during bed time. He loves fable stories and a twist of it. Once I had told him the story of Little red riding hood, he got bored. Hence, I twisted the story into additional features or characters which he enjoyed very much. |

I love both to read. Hardbound or softbound books have the same content with their equivalent in ebooks format. The latter could be accessed anywhere as long as there is an Internet connection. It is handier or convenient as compared to the physical books. And you don’t have to buy them. Unless they are not available for free you have to pay them. |

@icybc I have always been wanting a big book shelves that are up to the ceiling when I was younger, but now as I prefer less stuffs and simple life, I do not dream for this anymore. Yes, I think smaller space and lesser stuffs make things more manageable, and easier to clean as well. Moreover, I think simpler life is better for us and the children as well, having what we need is good enough. @peachpurple I do not know why, my son doesn’t like Little Red Riding Hood at all. He doesn’t mind I keep telling him a story over and over again, and he usually likes all kinds of stories, but there was once I told him Little Red Riding Hood, he just didn’t like it and if I wanted to tell him again, he just said no to that story. My little girl doesn’t mind listening to that story. I guess different stories really speak differently to kids. 🙂 |
