I just found out this webinar about teaching kids about astronomy, and it’s a free webinar hosted by Intoxicated On Life on 18 July. Though I think one of the objectives of this webinar is to introduce the astronomy course, I think I might be able to learn something from the webinar as well, such as how to approach the subject of astronomy, learn more about related books, tools and resources, hands-on learning activities and how to integrate astronomy into other subjects.

I do not have much knowledge about astronomy, but my son is interested in this subject. I think he knows about the planets more than I do, at least he reads more books about astronomy than I do. 😀 I hope I will be able to learn something from the webinar and teach my son more about astronomy.

If you are interested to find out more about this free webinar, you can find out more information or register here: http://www.intoxicatedonlife.com/astronomy-webinar

I think this is the website for the astronomy course, if you are interested in it too: http://experienceastronomy.com/

Webinar is a good way to incorporate learning for children. My little niece had all the resources using the internet for gaining knowledge. However, the internet access should be limited. We don’t want her to be totally depended in modern gadgets. They still need to explore other activities outside the computer world.

It has been tested that visual aids are so effective for the leaning process of a child. Taking into consideration the attention span, children are not focus if it is all in textbooks. That’s the reason why pictures embedded in textbooks are far effective to the early young ones.
