There is no fun in writing blog posts unless readers read and comment on it. Interaction on the blog posts is what keeps a blog alive and kicking. What is the best way to make readers comment on your blog posts? Please share your ideas in the comments below. (In fact, this is one way of getting comments…asking readers for their opinions!)

To make readers in leaving a comment on your blog posts is to make a topic that generally happening to people. It should be about trending topics, about health, television shows, money, online earnings, problems, inspirational, lesson learned, just to name a few. Even blog about food will entice the members to comment. At the very end of your blog, try to ask questions. Make a habit of putting something in the end as an interaction.

@swalia Thanks for asking this question. I think it’s always good to learn more about this. I always like to read the comments from readers and respond to them as well. I also like to read the comments in others’ blog posts as well.

I just try to ask a question at the end of my blog. I learned this technique in mylot, as it always helps me to gain more responses if I do so. As @grecy095 said, asking question is a good way to create interaction between blogger and readers. I remember reading an article about tips for speakers, asking questions in the speech is a good way to create the relationship and interaction between the speaker and audience, and thus the audience will not get bored too.

I would like to write a trending topic, but I am just not so good at coming up with topics. I usually just write what I am familiar with or what has inspired me on that day, even though I think it might be boring to many people. I just hope those posts might still attract some like-minded readers. 😀

I love being able to learn different techniques about writing a blog. When I get to the end of the post, I always feel like I am just hanging there not knowing how to end it without it feeling like I just stopped. I think asking a question is a great way of getting a comment. If the blog is written so that the reader feels drawn in and a part of the blog then they probably be more likely to comment on it to give their opinion.  I also would like to write on a trending topic but I am out of the loop since I do not know what is trending and what is not. I usually do not care or have knowledge enough to write on something that is popular. I like to write about things that I know and have dealt with in my experience. I am just happy getting practice writing.

@Grecy Garcia  @ Lee Ka  I agree with both of you! Ending the blog post with some form of question or asking for their opinion on the topic encourages the readers to leave insightful comments. This paves the way for further discussions. As a blogger, it’s very important for us to respond to readers’ comments as well so that they feel valued.

@morgoodie  Some bloggers prefer to write about trending topics. As for me, I write what I feel like and about the topics I am passionate about. You can’t write a good blog post unless you are an expert on the subject or you feel strongly about the subject. Trending topics aren’t my area of interest and so I rather avoid them. You are going the right way- writing about your experiences.

@grecy095/

I agree with you!

We should try to write on green topics which are popular among our readers.

Good examples are health issues, money related and recipes.

I always try to add in a few questions in my posts, hoping that readers would answer them.

Besides that, I believed that if you comment on other writers posts, they would return you a favor too.

It is alike a win win situation for both parties.

It takes 2 to tango.

I agree that ending with a call to action is a good way to get people to comment. you may also find the call to action can be used to get readers doing something else, like sharing the post on social media or signing up for LiteracyBase!

@grecy095 Yes, food articles are a good choice for many of us. I remember reading somewhere that articles about chocolate or chicken were most popular, and it’s true that if you do research into hashtags around recipes, meals, etc. the #chicken hashtag is one of the few specific ones that comes up in the results!

I like a food article that talks about a new way to prepare a common food, or about a food the audience may not know. I also like to give the history of the food or to explore its nutritional content. @peachpurple does a great job with articles like this, and  her photos are absolutely stunning!

Controversy is another way to get people commenting. Writing about something that has gotten people upset, or for which there are very polarized factions, can mean a lot of great commenting.

Humour is also a way to get people talking, as are strongly evocative visuals – a very pretty picture, or one that disgusts people. These are likely to get comments because of the emotions associated with them.

@swalia I am really pleased that you mentioned passion when you said people shouldn’t write in an area that is not their field of expertise. Because passion may not be a substitute for the authority or depth of knowledge of an expert, but often personal experience and enthusiasm will be appreciated by the reader 🙂

@ruby3881 I am glad I have learned another new thing from you – call to action. I think I have read this from you in BlogJob, but I was not clear what it is about. That’s why it’s so nice to be here, to keep learning from everyone here. 🙂

I also like how @peachpurple wrote her recipe posts, especially with some tips to prepare the food. It’s helpful especially for the beginners.

I have also read about controversy, but that’s really not something I can handle.

I think I will just stick to what @swalia mentioned, write what I am passionate about and what I feel like. I guess this is why I like to write about parenting or children, as it’s my life and what I love now. 🙂

There are three things to make your blog attracted to others and they may be compelled to comment. Not recommended, but there are some who are doing these.

First, make a weird title. The man bites the dog.

Secondly, divert from the normal flow of thoughts. Oppose others in their statement by proving them in a non-sense way.

Thirdly, assert lie as truth. Everything that goes up must not come down.

Another one, though this could be not a permanent one, treat everyone as your enemy. Of course, they will be surprised for that and they’re thinking that you become a fool. They may either pity you or curse you.

Do those things sound feasible? Yes, they are except the admin will filter it or hold it and finally refuses it.

However, practically speaking, everyone who joins here may oblige himself to give a comment to earn a coin whether the subject or the topic is good or bad.

@nakitakona13 you make a good point that sometimes the methods people use are too extreme. The post must not violate any part of the TOS, which on almost every site means no personal attacks or spreading misinformation. I have known people to try this sort of tactic on social writing sites, but they usually end up in hot water for it. On your own blog it might work, but it would likely get your AdSense shut down…

@
Kyla Matton Osborne (Ruby3881)  I agree with you! One must respect the rules and regulations of the site one is writing on. Even in case of own blogs, there should be no malicious content or misinformation. Shortcuts like sensational or misleading content etc. may garner traffic for the moment but in the long run, such tactics are only going to hurt.

@ruby3881 I think I read one from you here but I failed to put a comment. I wish you will continue doing that sissy because I am copy pasting some recipe that I saw online. I know the recipe and tutorial on how to cook it from the people who are really cooking it will be quite useful.

@peachpurple I agree on that. I love to share something healthy. In fact, I had a lot of posts about it on Blogjob but I will not spin this article as I want to share new things. I love reading if I have time. I read other’s blog. Sometimes I share it the way I understand, my own words and thoughts. In the end, I either ask a question or nothing at all. Sometimes I leave a statement. I somehow learning from other bloggers I know that is very passionate in writing blogs like @ruby3881.

@nakitakona13 I agree on weird titles. Right now I intrigue to read articles that has a long title.
