Can you keep a secret?  

If some one told you something and they told you NOT to tell some one, would you tell that person what the other person told you?

Do you trust some one who you’ve confided to and then they tell your secret?

@4cryingoutloud I think I am a person who can keep secrets, if it’s not my secret. 😀
I won’t tell even my husband if I am asked not to. I am glad my husband understands and he never keeps asking me about it. I remember some of my friends kept asking me about the “secret” someone else told me, even though I told them it’s a secret and I was told not to tell anyone. Some friends might get offended because I did not tell them others’ secrets. Well, these are some people I would definitely not tell them any secrets. 😀

I did not really have any secrets myself, as I was quite open to everyone. But, I did not like to talk about my family, especially the negative side. There was once my parents quarreled, and I was feeling down. I told my best friend in high school about this, and told her not to tell anyone else. That day, my mom went to school and picked me up. (Nothing to do with the quarreling as it was actually a small matter. I had gastric pain, and my mom was worried about me, so she brought me to see the doctor) Some of my good friends in class were wondering what has happened to me, and my best friend told one of the friends about my parents’ quarreling. I was really upset with this, moreover she thinks she should tell as my friends were concern about me.

Since then, I tried to keep whatever I think shouldn’t be told to others. When a secret is being told to even one person, it’s not a secret anymore. Of course, that’s not really a big deal, but I learned from the lesson. The only person I really trust now is my husband. He is really good at keeping secrets. 😀

@kaka135, I don’t tell anyone either “if” they say it’s a secret and NOT to tell anyone.  However, I don’t like it when some one tells me a secret and then I find out that they told other people..like the people who I wasn’t suppose to tell!  Why tell me it’s a secret if you tell people?  But I will abide by their wishes!!

I try NOT to tell people secrets, because I never know if they will really keep it a secret or not!!

@4cryingoutloud Yes, I agree with you. A secret should never be told. 😛

But those only happened to me when I was in high school and college. Nowadays, it seems like the people around me do not tell “secrets” anymore. What we can tell others are quite open to everyone. I am not sure if this is because we are getting older, and we are trying to keep more to ourselves.

I will keep secrets if people tell me to. I do not want people to tell my secrets if I tell them not so I try to adhere to the golden rule. I respect people’s privacy and if they need someone to talk to then I am there for them. Sometimes, you have to have someone to tell something to, but you do not want everyone to know. I have been burned by someone before and so now I just only talk to my sister since I know she is not going to tell anyone. I am a very private person and do not like to give out personal details about myself to others. I would have to be very close to someone to let them into my private life.

@JoDee  I have to agree with you . Why tell you it is a secret only to tell everyone else about it. I guess they figured that since they told you then they might as well tell some other people as well. Some people like to be melodramatic too.
