President Muhammadu Buhari has
reportedly met with some senators of the
All Progressives Congress (APC) at the
presidential villa on Monday, night, July
23, to dissuade them from defection from
the ruling party.
The Tribune reports that the senators led
by Rabiu Kwankwaso were seen at the
presidential villa, Abuja along with the
Jigawa state governor, Abubakar Badaru
Kwankwaso from Kano is having a
running battle with the governor from
his state and is believed to be on the
verge of defecting from the ruling party.
The Monday meeting is sequel to the
recent talks Saraki and speaker, House of
Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, had
with President Buhari and Vice President
Yemi Osinbajo over the same issue. It is
believed the outcome of that meeting did
not go as planned.
Meanwhile, the inspector general of
police, Ibrahim Idris has reportedly sent
a letter to Senate president, Bukola
Saraki asking him to appear at the office
of intelligence response team in Abuja
According to The Cable, the senate
president was summoned over the
robbery incident which took place in
Offa Kwara state in April.
In the letter which was sent to Saraki on
Monday, July 23, the Senate president
was asked to appear at 8am on Tuesday,
July 24 “for further investigation”.
The police had earlier said the suspects
arrested in connection to the robbery
confessed that they were Saraki’s thugs.
He was initially asked to appear in
person at the police headquarters but
was eventually asked to respond to the
allegation in writing…..
