The turmeric leaves appear only during the monsoon season and it is kind of a tradition to prepare this sweet snack. It was made this morning.

@bestwriter what’s the name of the snack? i have never seen this before! In fact, I never knew that there’s a dish involving turmeric leaves.
@shaloo walia I do not think there is an English translation but we call it ‘patholi’ Ground rice is spread on the leaf, filled with jaggery and coconut stuffing and steamed.
@ bestwriter wow! Never ever heard of it. We have so many vegetarian dishes and sweets. A couple of years ago, Art of Living foundation had organized an event in Gujarat during Diwali where 5000 types of vegetarian dishes were made & later distributed among the people.
@shaloo walia I make them because we had them when we were kids. I have kept in touch with whatever I got to eat cooked by mother.
Looks fabulous. Never heard of this before.
Turmeric leaves? I know turmeric is quite harsh in taste the leaves are also eaten okay this is a new one. but I know Indians like spicy food so I guess that wouldn’t be a problem for them
@Anitah Gimase Here turmeric leaves are not eaten. The stuff is wrapped in them for their aroma |
