It’s amazing to see how fast people can be to rally around when there is an emergency. Not long ago, the rallying was for people affected by the forest fires that consumed a whole city in Northern Alberta. Now it’s help for people who were injured in a shooting at a Florida gay bar.

There were 50 people killed, but at least that many more were injured. When a call went out for blood donors, so many people showed up they couldn’t all be accommodated. Officials are asking people to come back later!

Especially since there is still a lot of homophobia and especially transphobia in the US right now, it’s encouraging to see so much support for the LGBT community.

Why does it have to be “labelled?”  Innocent lives were killed and injured and the killer even was fighting with the SWAT team!!  Innocent lives were taken, that is what people are gathering for!!

I don’t know that anyone is going out of their way to label the people impacted, @4cryingoutloud. But it is a fact that it was a gay bar and that the LGBT community in Orlando is devastated by the killing and wounding of many of its members.

I didn’t say anyone was going “out of their way to label the people” but why does it have to be even mentioned….PEOPLE died!!!  It sounds like the killer was the one with the problem of liking homosexuals as he commented to his father that he didn’t like two guys kissing (on a show or something.)  I think we should be concentrating on people, in, general being killed.)  I don’t think it’s because their homosexuals or transgender, people are coming together because innocent people died.

tragic and sad indeed. i was just in orlando not that long ago. it could have been me. i have a lot of friends in that area who do not live far from that nightclub. thank goodness there was Facebook check in to check in you are safe. nice to see us get together as a country to provide support, but sad we have to wait until a tragic event like this takes place for it to occur.

It is nice that people rally to help those in dire need of it. It shows that not all is lost in this country. I think this is sad that people cannot just mind their own business and let others live the way they want to. These people who do this to people are just sick and twisted in the head.
