@peachpurple How sad that moms can’t access the nursery! It’s so important for babies to be close to mother to bond. Some hospitals here in Canada are very different in their approach. Many women I know gave birth in a sterile delivery room, and were made to share a room afterwards with one or more others. I was very lucky to have a local hospital with a special birthing unit. It meant giving birth in my own room with my family present, having a private room with place for my husband to stay at my side, and of course baby rooming in with us. Not everyone here is so lucky.

oh you are so lucky, again. To give birth in your room with family members around, have a privacy between you, baby and hubby, that is a paradise for me. I wish I had that opportunity. Too bad, our country doesn’t have such facility. By the way, did I voted down? Sorry, I wanted to vote up but the page kept blinking just now, I must had click the wrote button. I voted up now.

@peachpurple I certainly was lucky! I loved my birthing unit 😀 Perhaps if more ladies in your country would lobby the doctors and the hospitals, you could have this sort of setup too? I think it only came about in North America because many women demanded it, and some were leaving the system entirely to have their babies at home with a midwife. That would have been my choice when I had my kids, but it wasn’t legal where I lived. | |
our country’s private hospitals aren’t as up to date as Americans. No setup or request would be entertain. Having to give birth at home with a midwife, would be an honorable and memorable event. Only Koreans had this facility.

We all use public hospitals here in Canada, @peachpurple. So our hospitals are good, but they aren’t as fancy in a lot of ways as private ones in the US. A lot of the hospitals in some cities are very old. Montreal has just recently been working on building new mega-hospitals, because many of the old ones were over 100 years old. The buildings were in disrepair, and couldn’t be fixed at a reasonable cost. The only way to get what you want with the system, is to ask. Ask in great number, and ask often. Ask repeatedly. Tell the politicians and the doctors why you need certain improvements. If they can see a benefit like raising the tech profile of your country, things will come. But it’s a long, hard process most times… |
