It is now the 28th of May, and that means that our dear @kaka135 should have had her new baby boy two days ago. I don’t know if she mentioned anywhere how long she expected to be in hospital, or if she would have internet access during her stay. I do know it was a planned C-section, which usually means a stay of several days – longer than with a vaginal birth.

So I’m wondering, has anyone had any contact with Lee Ka? I am hoping that she has checked in somewhere, or soon will, just to let us know that all is well.

I am keeping Lee Ka close to my heart, and thinking of her and her family. I hope it was a positive experience for the whole family, and that they are now happily bonding with their new little one.

@ruby3881/

I had contact her 4 days ago.

She said that she will be in the hospital for 5 days.

She will be back in June.

She said that she will miss all of us here.

I have not heard from her ever since that day.

I am sure she and her baby are safe.

Yeah without her around, Literacybase seems quiet, eh?

She always have a lot of ideas and comforting words for everyone.

Just a few days more will be June.

We will be hearing her chattering again!

Cheers!

@peachpurple I wonder if she will have time to be active on the site? Having a newborn in the house is big work! I remember that time in my children’s lives fondly, but I’m glad it’s over 🙂

@peachpurple  Yes, it is quiet without her here. She definitely kept everyone talking and made it fun. I happy for her and her family. I am not sure she will have a lot of time on her hands to be on here but I am sure she will stop by to say hi and to let us know how she is  doing.  I do not think I was in the hospital that long after I had my C-sections. Or at least my last one. I had complications with my pregnancy for the first child and was in there days before I gave birth.

I know I could not wait to get home and in my own space. I do not think hospitals are too comfy and the beds are horrible.

Nice to hear that. Did she describe the baby to you?

@morgoodie I had my last by C-section, and they had originally told me I’d be in hospital 5 days. It ended up being only 4, of which I was really glad! I stayed about 48 hours with my other children – sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less. Four days was so long! I couldn’t wait to be out of the hospital and home with my kids.

I hope her husband confiscated her phone.

She better rest well.  If she comes online, it is hard to get her to stop.  She will insist on reading and commenting, and in the end, she will feel so tired.

@scheng1 I think if my husband had ever tried to confiscate my phone while in hospital, he’d have been sleeping in the doghouse! Really, when you’re in hospital it’s very boring. And sometimes if you have to wake up at 2 am to feed the baby, it’s easier to get back to sleep afterwards if there is something to do….

@ruby3881/

it is true, once she had her newborn in hand, I doubt she has any time left for LB, unless she is resting while baby is asleep.

During the first week,she will be very tired from breastfeeding and the stitches.

Maybe she will be back here to say HI and BYE in the 2nd week.

@morgoodie/

yes, without her around, this place sounds quiet and slow to pass by. I guessed that her presence had enlighten us writers a lot.

She should be in the admin with her talents.

I agree that hospital beds and food aren’t nice nor comfy. In addition when the patient next to you made some noises, visitors came for a visit that lasted for hours, you wouldn’t find at peace and quiet at all.

Home sweet home is the best

@bestwriter/

nope she didn’t mention anything about the baby because at that time she wasn’t in the hospital yet.

@scheng1/

LOL! it is true that she would be hanging around the phone when she is free from breastfeeding and especially bored in the afternoon.

TV program in the afternoon is pretty boring, mostly are repeated dramas from the past , isn’t it?

@ruby3881/

I guess that your hubby didn’t confiscate your handphone then !

Yes, indeed it is bored when you are awake at 2am in the morning, breatsfeeding your baby. Hard to get back to sleep unless with some simple easy tasks done…

I was wondering about the same thing “where is Lee Ka?”, but then remember that she was so close to given birth.

I am glad that the baby and her are in good health and she has time to rest in the hospital as she won’t have to look around the house and gets overwhelmed with things to do.

I didn’t get to stay in the hospital that long and they packed me up and sent me home the next day.

She already told us that she will prioritize the baby when she is born, so I guess it is quite understandable that she will not be staying as active on the site, but for sure @kaka135 will be dropping by in here because she misses every single member of the site, lol. She better get back in here because I already memorized her username, lol, again.

I hope she is fine and the baby as well. I wish her all the best. I love to see the picture of the baby, I wish she share it to us, even on private message. I want to see her on June.

@ Kyla Matton Osborne (Ruby3881)  I have been wondering the same. Quite curious to hear the good news and if it was a baby girl or a baby boy! I hope she just posts an update with a pic as soon as she can. Meanwhile, my prayers for her and the baby’s well-being!

@shaloowalia  She was having a boy I believe.

@ruby3881  With my second child I was only in the hospital for 3 days. I probably would have been home sooner but a few hours after having him, I started hemmorhaging and had to have two pints of blood. The hospital stay is boring and there is nothing on TV either.

@peachpurple  At the hospital I had my children at, we had private rooms so I did not have to worry about that. The food is horrible too so it was nice to come home to have my own food or at least go get something to eat.

May 30, 2016 at 3:42 am

@peachpurple My hospital had all private rooms as it was a birthing unit where mothers delivered in the room (except for c-section, of course!) The rooms were spacious, with a comfy chair that converted into a bed for the father or other companion. The food was even good! But it’s still not the same as being home…

I didn’t have any mobile devices back then, so there was nothing to confiscate! I brought books to read, and my birth announcements to write up. Sometimes I rented a TV, but usually it wasn’t worth it. We’d just bring a radio and listen to talk and radio plays on the CBC 🙂

@swalia I believe Lee Ka was expecting a little boy, but beyond that I don’t know much.

@morgoodie That sounds like a pretty bad hemorrhage! I always bled very heavily, sometimes to the point it frightened the nurses. When I had my middle daughter I had the nurse warm me with heated blankets, as I felt I might be going into shock. But the blood work always came back normal – even when the doctor was “sure” I had anemia (I’m naturally very pale.) I was very fortunate to get through four births with no complications other than the c-section for the last one, especially since I have epilepsy.
