I have many memories but playing a game of Chinese checkers with my siblings and eating really good food at our various holiday celebrations are on my Top Ten List.

He worked a long way from home and I didn’t get to see him much. My mom allowed me to sleep on the sofa so he would see me when he came in from work. Without fail, he would pick me up gently and take me to my room. I was never asleep but I always pretended to be. I can still remember gentle but strong arms holding me.  I just wanted that one precious moment of the day with him, no matter how brief that precious moment was.  Wishing you all health and happiness!  🙂

Well, I do recall those rainy monsoon days when my mother would make some fried stuff with tea for us to eat, and we enjoyed the rains even in power cuts, some of them lasting for over two hours.
Or eating new mangoes falling from tree in the home where my grandmother used to live.
The cricket matches were also one of my favorites.

A couple of your memories are similar to mine.  I did enjoy mangos from the mango tree.  When there was a hurricane, we ate food and played games, but always with my mother close by us.  🙂  Cricket is not an American sport, so no memories there.  Also I’m not much into sports.  Thanks for sharing.  🙂

So many beautiful memories. We play a lot in the yard with my cousins, even under the sun or in the farm at the newly-harvested rice field. We also climbed guava trees. Unlike now, children do not enjoy such physical activities because they prefer to sit inside their homes with their gadgets.

Hmmmm..Aside from coming home from school every Friday, one of my fondest memory as a child was when I got my first kitten! I was 6 years old at that time. It was raining heavily (probably a storm, I can’t remember). Then my father heard a small cry outside our house. It turned out that a newborn kitten (from our neighbor’s cat) was probably left by the mom in the rain. My dad pick her up and brought her home. We bathe her with warm water and cuddled her for a few minutes before everyone decided that she should be mine. That was the happiest day of my life. I get to keep a really beautiful kitten. I took care of her every day, made sure she’s well fed. She’s even a really good pet, she never steals food even when it’s already in front of her. She always sleeps beside me at night. One time, I was being rude to my mom about something, I forgot what it was. My cat heard me shouting at my mom then she jumped me and scratched my arms and legs faster than I could even tell what’s going on. She was with us for more than 10 years, died in her sleep at an old age. I always think of her even now. I loved her dearly.

Oh..I too was a fan of Chinese Cheker. This was a great game. My mother was liking it. During Sundays my sisters and parents were playing it spending most of their time before it. In between the game mother was going inside the kitchen and was preparing Coffee and was calling one of us to serve coffee to the remaining members which we were trying to avoid in between the game. Finally, father was interfering and deciding on who should go. Those are great moments in life.

Coming to the memories in school the ladies will remember me very well even for today as I was very strict in controllng the entire class. I was slapping them if they make any sound and there was pin drop silence. It was giving a lot of relief to other classes and to their teachers. As most of the classes were in a single big hall any noise from other class was disturbing the teachers of other class. They wanted me to be the leader of the class.

The girls were developing grouse against me. But, they were helpless as I was brilliant in other classes also. If they slap me in one class they have to take slaps in almost all other classes. So, to avoid the situation they were just maintaining silence.

After a gap of 20 years one of those girls inquired about me with my sister and told how I was during my school days. When I returned home for holidays from the University, sister asked me if I was so popular among the girls in my class one of them must be my girl freind. I really surprised if the girls remembered me for so much length of time.
