I know a lot of people who are afraid of spiders. They will scream if they see one, and even try to kill it. They do not tolerate any spiders in their home. Some even banish them from their yards! In my house, the spiders are welcome as long as they don’t pester the people. Spiders often eat other insects that are a problem for us, so I encourage them to do their thing. Every once in a while we will have to clean cobwebs that are in a space that we need clear, but mostly they aren’t much of a nuisance. Poisonous spiders aren’t a huge concern here, either. We haven’t seen any of the venomous spiders around our home or yard, and unless I do I won’t worry. Spiders rarely bite unless they are frightened. And I’ve interviewed specialists who explained that most “spider bites” are actually misdiagnosed. So I don’t worry! What about you? Do you tolerate the spiders or want to get rid of them on sight?

Spiders are here for a reason, as they usually eat other bugs. I don’t bother them, especially when they’re NOT bothering me!!
If they are outside I let them be unless they are poisonous as I am afraid they may bite the dogs if they were to get close. If they are inside – well then they are on my territory and they are dead meat!
@4cryingoutloud We have the same philosophy. @lolaze I can understand you wanting to protect your dogs – and also the part about territory! We usually try to put them back outside if they are annoying us. But I don’t fuss over killing bugs if I need to. If something is getting into our food or pestering us, or if it’s an insect that bites, I will kill it without a thought. I guess I’d make a lousy Buddhist, LOL!
really? Spiders eat other bugs? You mean flies? I do spiders , mini type running here and there around the house. Cobwebs were always found around our old bicycles and washing machines. Nope, I don’t damage the webs nor kill the spiders. They are so tiny! Just hit the item, and it will start jumping around like spiderman. The only thing that it scares me is when I found spider in my clean dry laundry. That’s all

I don’t kill the spiders. Instead, I pick it up and play it. We don’t have a poisonous spider here. Kids when it is spider’s season go to the trees to gather some spiders for their game. They let the spiders ,fight each other in the stick. A spider that falls on the ground is the loser. Spiders are being nourished by the kids. They put them inside a matchbox with various separators made of carton.
I am afraid I do kill spiders if they are in my house. I am deathly afraid of them and cannot stand to see them. I will not sleep if I know one is in my house and it is still alive. I do not bother with them outside though as they do eat other bugs like mosquitoes and flies. I cannot stand really big ones and I especially do not like the jumping ones. We get some that look like mini tarantulas. They are black and hairy and they JUMP!! Nope do not deal well with those ones.
I like spiders, I know that’s stupid but I believe they bring luck. So, I never kill them. But I don’t like to keep them at my place, either. What I usually do is to take them and let them free outside of my place.
@ruby3881 we have spider here in my country but it is not like in the wild, like it has no hair. The legs are just thin and they have this big bag underneath them, that contains their baby. We do not kill it, we shoo it away, though sometimes I have to admit that I get scared when it appear in the bathroom. At least it is not like a cockroach that when you try to shoo them away, they do not go away, but instead they will fly into you, yuck. @4cryingoutloud I believe on that. I know other scary spiders is there for reason, just like worms, to balance everything. @peachpurple spiders here are tiny and thin too. They will just go away when they got shooed away. They are rule abiding spiders, lol. I just hate when I saw them in the dry hanging clothes. It scares me. It happens to me many times before. @nakitakona13 I know that and I had seen some of my boy playmates are doing that and we enjoyed watching them. @morgoodie I am scared with the one that is fat and with a lot of hair and lots of colors, is that tarantula or kind of like it, I am scared of it because I know it could hurt you. @Nina or let someone pick it for you, even if the spider is nice here in my place, I will never touch it.
@ruby3881, Sometimes I kill spiders when children are afraid of their presence.They are not harmful except the black colored spider for it’s noted as poisonous.Spiders are also very useful to humans for they eat dust. I seldom see spider at home.
@lovern I didn’t know spiders eat dust! That’s something I learned today 😀
I have lots of dust for them to eat, but I could not live with the spiders at all even if they did keep my house dust free. I started hyperventilating when I read @nakitakona description of what the kids do. I remember once when my sister and I went canoeing, we got caught under a huge tree overhanging the river and the big tree spiders were falling into the canoe on me. I was screaming bloody murder. That was the last time I went canoeing too. @grecy Yes those big hairy spiders with different colors are tarantulas. I remember when I was living on the mountain in California and we would go down the mountain at a certain time of the year and the tarantulas would be migrating across the road. Something right out of my nightmares. I have had enough spiders for a lifetime there. |
