The site is not down. This was a temporary issue that happened some time ago. BlogJob is still running, They just aren’t paying right now. They suspended the payment program after they migrated the site. It was the biggest mess I’ve seen on a writing site since Bubblews announced their supposed upgrade and didn’t really change a thing.

@ruby3881 -Thanks for the explanation. It was a mess, wasn’t it?  But by contrast, Sheridan, the BJ site owner is really nice!

@Kyla Matton Osborne (Ruby3881)  Blogjob was a trusted site and it was really disappointing to see it go. There is hardly any activity on the site now. I hope it makes a comeback soon!

@ Treathyl FOX  Sheridan was indeed very sincere in his intentions. He paid all the users even after suspending the rewards system.

I really really really liked BlogJob. I do hope they make a comeback! I felt so comfortable and productive there.  I was even brave enough to start a group, something I don’t do because of my lack of confidence.  The fact that the site is still there provides a ray of hope for the future.  🙂

@ Treathyl FOX  I think I should have said suspended points program but yes, I can see members are still posting but there is no provision for registration for new members!

I sort of thought that was what you meant but I wasn’t sure. Considering that the site owner always conducted himself courteously, I will trust that he doesn’t want to throw away years of his blood , sweat and tears, any more thaN we do. No matter what, he has invested more into the site than the members have. I think he wants to make it a thriving community again. He could have done like so many of the other sites. You know nothing and then wake up one day to see that the site no longer exists. No warning. Just a good bye note saying “See ya!”

I am rather sad about this;  I liked Sheridan, I liked the site… I didn’t expect it to collapse.  As soon as he dropped the submissions from 3 to 2 I felt sad. I knew I should kiss it good bye.

Why should anyone go on a site and write for free?  Think about it.  You can just as easily get a blog and write and use adsense.   When a site declined to the extent it can’t pay…  how many visitors is it getting?  Alexa says every page gets 1 view a day.

OK. Correct me if I’m wrong. It was only the Points Program that was suspended. There is still a revenue-share plan for those who have Google Ad Sense (or a comparable alternative). You are allowed to use affiliate referral links. You have a lot of freedom to choose free templates and customize your blog so it reflects your “personality”. That means it’s still a free blog that can produce an income stream, as long as the site owners keep the site up and running. Yes? No??

@Treathyl FOX  you are right about that. Those who were earning on blogjob through adsense and affiliate links are still writing there. But the rest who were dependent on points system have stopped writing there and waiting for its comeback.

@Treathyl FOX I agree with you that you can still earn if you are posting and sharing your work on BJ regularly. I have chitika running on my blogs and getting few views although I admit that I am no more sharing them like I was doing before. However, last night I was on BJ and Sheridan was also there at the same time. I even posted a comment and yes I saw you had also visited the site and posted just before I visited that site. Probably I made a comment on you update too.

@kaylar I don’t think you will find a single member that will say a single word against Sheridan despite suspension of points program.

i think blogjob is becoming like persona paper and wikinut, people write there for free, no earning, just a good cause

August 9, 2016 at 12:53 pm

@peachpurple  people may be writing there for free but those people have adsense on their blogs as well as affiliate programs. So they are still making money by writing there.

shaloo walia & suny – OK. I see that I do understand about the revenue potential. Then I’m glad I decided to stay there because I could not do the same thing with a WordPress blog that I tried to publish my own since I had not purchased a domain name.

peachpurple – Agree with shaloo walia. At many of those communities there are always members who did not come there to earn money. They liked the writing and the socializing. But maintaining a blog at BlogJob is not a total waste for those trying to develop a passive income stream.  The fact that you see Sheridan when you sign in means he has not given up and that gives members who are hanging in there hope!

@cmoneyspinner Sheridan is a nice guy. I think he just wasn’t prepared to make business decisions for his site. And when he did, he let things go too long and then announced suddenly. Users were completely in the dark about the problems with the site’s earnings until he cut off the earnings program. By then it was too late to do anything or suggest ways to fix the problem.

As far as the honesty factor, he does seem honest. I know some were paid what they were owed even after the payment program was suspended. But when others tried to transfer points to friends so at least another person could cash out, he reversed all the transfers and disabled the transfer feature. He claimed it was a problem with the database but there was no problem getting the exact amount of coins refunded. It felt to me like he just couldn’t afford to pay anyone else, and was making sure nobody could cash out with the help of friends.

I’m sorry to say it, but that doesn’t feel transparent at all. I think it was done out of fear and not greed or deliberate deceit. I’m sure Sheridan was just trying to hold off any more payment requests and that he truly believed he would have better results later so that he could pay users eventually. But to be truly transparent, he should have explained the situation with the point transfers and asked people to please wait.
