Traffic on your blog is very important as that’s what motivates the blogger to write (and also to earn in case you have monetized your blog!) Getting a decent and regular traffic is what every newbie blogger wants. Here are some tips to get traffic to your blog:
| |
Something we might want to think about is to define what kind of traffic is desired, and how much traffic it takes to accomplish our goals. If it takes 2,500 unique visitors a month in order to get a decent return from an advertising program, then counting return visits from subscribers isn’t helpful. One of the reasons I finally decided to take the focus back to writing for my own blogs is that I need to be producing new content once or even twice a day. I need to get back to a point where I have an editorial calendar for myself again, and where I have content ready to go in case I am ever unable to blog on a given day or days. I also need to amp up my social media presence, and to return to using tools like HootSuite or Buffer that will automate a lot of the work for me.
@Kyla Matton Osborne (Ruby3881) Getting unique visitors is definitely a challenge and that’s why bloggers have to be proactive and creative enough to think of interesting content and new ideas to lure visitors to their blogs.
I think this would be hard for me since I do not have a very many followers on Twitter and FB. I still promote on there but I am limited since most of my friends on FB are really not interested in blogging or writing at least to my knowledge. This is something that I am going to have to work on if I want to be able to have my own blog.
@swalia Thank you for sharing those good tips! As a blogger, I agree that it’s really encouraging if we get more traffics, and especially more comments to our blog too. I usually comment on other blogs, and just started to share my posts on social media sites. I have also read that it’s good to publish a post consistently, say every Tuesday, or two times a week. So when the readers are interested in our blog, and know our schedule well, they might just return to our blog consistently too. Otherwise, they might not be able to know when to visit us and they might forget to visit us too. @ruby3881 That’s a really good idea. I think it’s always good to have a schedule, whether for blogging or social media sharing. Are you using Buffer to schedule the social media sharing now? I have not heard about HootSuite, will check it out soon. @morgoodie I do not share on Facebook, though I heard some might get good traffics from there. Same as you, I do not think my friends in Facebook are interested in writing, moreover, most of them are Chinese educated, and they prefer to read Chinese. Moreover, I would like to separate my personal FB account from my online work.
@kaka135 I share on a page that I created on FB although because I liked the page it does show up on my personal page, but I do have family on there that will read what I have written so I get them to the site and maybe one of them will be inspired to write here. I do not share everything there. I mostly use Twitter for that. I am hoping to branch out in the social media but it is going to take me some time.
@Lee Ka as a regular practice I share all my posts but my few posts on this site did not bring me desired result. Maybe I missed few points while sharing them @shaloo walia which forums you mentioned in your post where I can share my posts/blogs please?
#kaka135 I did just sign up for Buffer tonight, as Barb recommends it highly. It seems that with the free version you can only schedule so many Tweets or other social media shares. But I love that you can go directly into Pablo to create a graphic if you need it, and that the app picks up images on any page you share. I will have to blog about the app later 🙂 HootSuite has been around for a long time. It can be used much the same way that Buffer can. You can use it to shorten links, schedule Tweets or other social media posts, etc. I haven’t used it in a very long while, and I’m sure the features are different now. Will have to check it out again. Barb uses Buffer and HootSuite to complement one another.
@morgoodie You may consider joining some blogger groups on facebook and share your posts there. Google plus is another helpful tool to promote your posts. Commenting on others’ posts is also a good way as generally the blogger is sure to return the favor. @Lee Ka I know you are quite active in terms of interactions. Interaction with fellow bloggers is the key to success. You get acquainted with their writing styles and it helps in improving your own. You get positive feedback which is very important.
@suny The common forums we are on offer the facility of signature. Using your blog links as your signature provide quite a visibility to your blogs. You may also try bloglovin. I recently signed up for bloglovin but haven’ had the time to explore it yet. But I have heard good reviews about it from other bloggers.
Thanks @shaloo walia I have subscribed one famous site Indibloggers recently and trying to learn its way of working. I hope it is going to work for me and posts. Try it and thanks for blogvin, I will try to see what is on offer for us there 🙂
@suny thanks for sharing indibloggers. I will check it out. I wish we could share our blog links here and go through each others’ work. It would have been so beneficial in terms of sharing feedback.
@morgoodie It’s good that you have your own Facebook page. Is that the one you created for the direct sales business? Hope you’ll get some family or friends who are interested in reading those posts too. I can actually try sharing some good posts there as well. Though my friends are not interested in making money online or writing, they might get inspired by some good posts too. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂 @sunil How do you track which site or which posts brings you the traffic? Do you have any tool to keep track of that? I am not sure if sharing at different time will make a difference. @ruby3881 I am interested in signing up for Buffer too, but I have not do so yet. So, Buffer and HootSuite are good to complement one another. I will check them out, and hopefully it will help me to do some social media sharing when I might not be available online later. 🙂 @swalia Thanks for sharing bloglovin. I have heard about it but not yet check it out too.
