Since I started working in an online company, they started to change the policy randomly. I mean, it was done abruptly. One of the main concern of this company is to gain profit out of the professional services of virtual teachers. At present, the company became over the top of its success. They were listed on NYSE. A good credit to the company, but they never take credit to their virtual teachers. The mere fact, I don’t mind if they are being listed on NYSE. The reason, what should I get from it. I stayed in the company to earn a worth of experience in teaching virtually. Business is quite unrealistic to their employees at times. Do you think this company needs social responsibility 101?

I think there are many companies not appreciate the staff at all. They think they are “helping” the staff as they pay them, but they forget without the staff, the company will not be able to run well. I like those companies that think staff is the main assets of the company, and hence they will show their appreciation to their staff, not only in monetary gift, but always say it verbally. I understand it is our responsibility to perform well at work, it will make the staff feel much better and will continue to contribute if they are appreciated.

Hope you will still get to work well in that company. 🙂

@kaka135 Actually, I don’t mind what the higher ups doing. All I can focus more on teaching and provide the needs of the students. I just blind myself up if seeing bad practices in the company. I just go with the flow of their minds and do my job well.

In time, I will find another online teaching job. If things are getting worse in the management. At this point of time, I am just taking the practical side of the job. I am pretty sure, sooner or later, there is someone out there who will try to question their unacceptable practices towards their employees.

it is true that many big companies do not appreciate long term employees, especially the pioneer ones.

Most of them make big bucks, and kick out the old employees in order to get cheaper rate employees, the fresh graduates.

It is a normal phase here, which is why most companies do not have old faces

Sadly, treating one’s employees well seems to be a thing of the past. Most companies seem to only think about the bottom line and not about morale, employee health and well-being, etc.

Many companies today are paying a much lower wage than they should for the work they are getting from the employees, and often they have a practice of continually piling more work onto an employee’s plate until he is so overwhelmed that he quits or makes a mistake for which they can fire him. Then the company starts over with a new, inexperienced employee who will do the same work for less pay. There is also a common habit, in healthcare and service industry job especially, of hiring several part-time employees to fill a spot that should be held by one or more full-time workers. The company saves money on benefits packages this way, and it can cut hours drastically with impunity because part-time workers are often not guaranteed much beyond one or two shifts per pay period.

It’s all about money, and about what’s easiest for the company. The focus on making a quality product or providing a top-notch service that all the employees can be proud of no longer matters.

@ruby3881 That’s the sad part of working with companies that they don’t feel anything just because of monetary values to their bank. It is one of the bad thing happened between me and the queen bee of the company. The phrase, “Business is business” is the only thing that comes to her mouth. Eventually, the employees are starting flying away from the company. As I heard from my former colleagues, there are some projects turned upside down due to the high turnover of employees.

@lovern You said it right, my friend. That’s too bad for those people who are in power. They are just waiting for the big karma to come. Unless they still have good conscience to their own kind. However, some of the higher ups are so blinded with huge money pouring into their own pocket. Shame on them!
