When I was in primary school, I was so active performing on stage. It takes 6 years for me to showcase my talent in ballroom dancing. But then, when I entered in high school. Things had changed, I suddenly felt not joining in any activities at school. However, it boosts my confidence when my team encouraged me to join a double duet competition. My co-singers won the second place and things changed for me. I may say it is the starting point to say goodbye being a timid person. In college days, I became so active in all the activities and boost my confidence. How about you? Are you a performer before?

when I was a teenager, i was selected to act on stage. I had stage fright because I had never on stage in my life. I pretended that the crowd of students were not there, kept my heads low all the time, that is how I overcome the stage fright. Actually, i prefer to be in the audience, I don’t like the stage nor behind the curtains
@peachpurple After my stunts in my senior high school days, I started to rebuild myself to be a confident person. I had also a stage fright moment. But then, I managed to break free from being shy during that time. I tend to improve my weaknesses and learned to be active in facilitating the seminar. That made me a better person after I had to come out from my comfort zone.
@peachpurple I think I really need to step up for family’s sake. I am the eldest and all eyes are expecting to be stronger. Since my father left us, I need to step in to be the spearhead for the family. At first, I am so anxious to accept the responsibility. No one can do it and I embraced the situation.
I am a choir member. During college, I am a member of University Choir so every time the school has a program, we participate. I guess I belong to the one that is performing in front of the stage. When I was working, I joined some individual groups that perform as at theater artists and I performed once. I did not stay for long because the group is making me feel I am some kind of amateur. For me, yes I am an amateur, but I wish they inspired me more so that I could get better. I feel the politics inside the group and they only want to stay in the group are those people they like, unfortunately they don’t like me. You know what the reason I was not absorb on the second play is that because I am SMALL. I mean I am small in height and I am not the only one that has a height like that in a group, actually I am not the smallest in the group. I hope they just told me the truth because it makes me feel that they are not to be trusted.
@grecy095 I was a choir member in high school since freshman year. However, when my teacher told that I will have a solo performance in school’s church; I totally declined it without a second thought and quit the choir. In the long run, I had a breakthrough from being so timid in senior high and joined a double duet with my batch mates and won second prize. That’s the starting point for building my self-confidence.
Yes oi was a performer right from an early age both in church and in school I sang in the choir and as I grew older I sang in the school choir I also performed dances, in high school I was the best actress in my school years and that went on until I finished my high school education, and in college I used to do modeling that I took up shortly just for fun not professionally and I loved every bit of it and that boosted my confidence in the midst of people.
@sauda I guess we really need to show our talents and shared to people. I must say that I am a late bloomer for popularity in school. High peak of confidence when I was in my college days. Even my former classmates in high school cannot believe how I became so active that time.
good to know that story of yours because there is something you achieved, building your confidence. Me, sometimes I have the confidence, sometimes it is not there. I am more comfortable performing in groups, like of choir. It really scares me to perform on the stage but I apply enjoyment to forget about the nervousness.
I loved acting right from the time I was little. Now I even had the occasion to raise a toast at my nephew’s wedding. So I could say I enjoy being on stage.
@grecy095 I guess I need to step up. Most of my previous jobs, they require a person who can facilitate things to the local people. It also varies on how are you going to communicate with them. Since some of the medium instructions are not in English or in our native tongue. @bestwriter It is nice that you are being exposed on stage. I am still human and feel nerve-wracking moment but it is always at first minute.
@Shavkat I don’t mind as that is part of my job. I had to attend lots of seminar and address dealers meetings during my regular marketing career. Now I have to address fewer such meetings but I am no more shaky as I used to be in the beginning of my career.
@suny I do think we tend to be nervous at first. I got used doing a couple of times. There is no need to feel nervous anymore.
@ Shavkat Honestly saying I was just opposite from you when I was in school and college. I was very shy by nature during school time, during college time it was bit improved but still almost all time I was used to be away from any stage performance. In compare to past, now I don’t feel shy anymore if I have to give any kind of presentation between crowd. But still by nature I don’t prefer it more. It is always good to be confident and guy like you as you were. I was always regretting it because of my nature. But can’t do anything else. |
