kaylar wrote a new post, Genetically Modified Foods; No Thanks 7 years, 6 months ago

I was in the supermarket this morning.  They had just opened this new store and I, a long time customer came to visit.

I happened to be talking to the owner about lots of topics, as I was shopping.  I passed a […]

    • I have no problem with genetically modified products like the agricultural crops. I believe the genes of the crops were altered just to become disease resistant and can grow to the desired size and weight it should be. I don’t believe it can affect our body because I believe the scientist won’t allow this to market if it does harm to our health.

But I cannot blame those people who are afraid of consuming genetically modified foods.

      • I don’t trust any of this. Think of ‘healthy’ hydrogenated vegetable oil, virtually forced down our throats

    • I am afraid of eating genetically-modified foods, too! It is better safe than sorry; so I prefer organically-grown or naturally-grown fruits and vegetables. I also grow some of my vegetables in our small garden. It is always nice to harvest from your own plants.

      • When I had land I did the same thing. Grow my own, and know what was used on them… I’m not comfortable with G.M.

    • Organic and naturally grown foods are better but may be in some cases GM crops if properly checked and supervised without any wrongful method, could be useful for farmers as well as end consumers.

No.  It is not that X plagiarised items which is why… it is that the false charges of Plag. cause good writers not to write good.

Put it like this; suppose you wanted to discuss a current topic.  You would need to define it, you would quote your sources, and you might even supply quotes which would confirm the validity of your item.

Imagine yourself riding in public utility vehicle (PUV) loaded with passengers and that include you. Imagine the driver is texting while driving on his way. All of a sudden it went to the other lane and going face […]

    • It is a good law, and should be strictly implemented to safeguard lives of passengers, even of the drivers. If they wanted to answer an emergency call or a text, they should stop at the roadside to attend to it.

While on the road, I can see people doing that, driving while talking on their cellphones, even those who are on motorcycles!

      • I experienced this many times, while riding a passenger utility van or mini-bus there are drivers who actually texting and calling while driving. Some passengers just took a photo and posted them in facebook because there was no other way penalize this kind of drivers.

But now there’s this law penalizing them.

SuperD wrote a new post, This Is How I Combat Heat Stroke 7 years, 6 months ago

The scorching 37 to 41C temperature is too much to bear even for those living in the tropical country like us. There many reported incidents about heat stroke especially to middle aged and elderly people who are […]

    • Indeed, when it is summer, the heat is unbearable especially outside of the house.

I always have a folding umbrella and a folding fan in my bag. So, whenever I go outside the house I would use my umbrella.

Even inside the jeepney, whenever it stops to pick up passengers the scorching heat can be felt. The folding umbrella will be used.

I also wear loose blouses and usually sleeveless. I also would have my hair in ponytail. I always take a bath , especially in the evening.

I also see to it that I eat more than 8 glasses. And I like the water to be so cold. The moment the water enters body, you can feel instant refreshment.

These are some of the ways to beat the heat.

I think here in the Philippines, we would really have a shorter summer as was announced before. And indeed, it would rain now, especially in the morning.

The rain helps in cooling the surroundings.

    • Even when it is not summer, I used to drink 8 glasses of water, or more. These days, I avoid getting out in the sun from 10 a.m. to 4 .m., as much as I could. It is really scorching hot; and one needs to wear sunglasses to protect the eyes from UV rays.
