Good afternoon to all the members of Literacy base. I just signed up on this very promising site a few minutes ago and I just thought of writing my very own introduction of myself. I am a 61 year old woman who worked as a registered nurse for 21 years first in gynecology/surgery then in dialysis (artificial kidney unit) and finished my career in the ICU (intensive care unit). After this I took a voluntary layoff and never looked back. It had taken its toll on me. I enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch, tatting and would love to learn how to do needle lace. Eventually, I will learn this ancient craft. I am at the present time working part time as a writer on 2 academic writing sites. I enjoy this very much because it gives me the chance to write on subjects that I like such as history and health care. Unfortunately these two sites are not enough to keep me going financially which explains my joining experts columns, blog job, my lot, persona paper and now literacy base. I just hope that I will have the time to really familiarize myself with all these sites and really start writing. By the way, I forgot to mention that I am a French Canadian. Any Canadians here on Literacy base? If yes, I would love to hear from you. I would also like to express my interest in writing in the general public health care field. Any suggestions from the members would be appreciated.

    • Hi? Welcome to Literacy base. You will surely have fun here writing about what your mind and heart desire to write. I am also new here. Let us welcome ourselves and hope for the better…

    • Bonjour Francine! C’est un plaisir! I am a fellow Canadian living now in BC, but I spent most of my life in the Montreal area. I also used to do hospital work when I was younger, as a nursing orderly at the veteran’s hospital in Ste Anne de Bellevue.

It seems we share a lot of writing sites in common. I’ve also done PP, BlogJob, MyLot, among others. I also love to crochet and occasionally now to knit. Cross stitch was also an old favourite!

Which are the academic sites that you write for? I’m always eager to hear about more writing opportunities 🙂
