Keep reading as long as you keep living
muscari-562110_1280 field_We Fight our Battles Through FaithIt’s important that we do not lose hope no matter what we go through.

Reading is the way out of ignorance, and the road to achievement. Our mind needs nourishment, for it is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be ignited (Puitarch). We must learn everything we can but be bold enough to think for ourselves. When we give our best selves and think for our selves we end up taking risks. When we have done our best, we also have to learn that we still need to rely on God. Our best-no matter how good-is incomplete if we leave God out of the picture. Negativeness is always lurking around waiting to take over. If we allow ourselves to dwell on negatives, on hurts, on mistreatments, we will be negative thinkers. To make the most out of life, all of us need to stop, think and analyze, and use the talents God has given us. People will always try to break us and tear us down. Therefore, it is important to remember that no one can make us feel inferior without our permission (Eleanor Roosevelt). Our place of abode, country our ethnicity will only hold us back if we let them. For it is not where we have come from but where we are going that counts. If we observe and reflect and commit ourselves to giving our best, we will come out on top.

Francis Bacon reminds us that knowledge is power. It enriches life itself and makes us better people. It broadens our grasp of the world around us, for it is the key that unlocks all doors. Our brain is the center of and for information. It works most effectively with consciously retained information. If we make every attempt to increase our knowledge in order to use it for human good, it will make a difference in us and in our world. Every man who knows how to read has it in his power to magnify himself, to multiply the ways in which he exists, to make his life full, significant, and interesting (Aldous Huxley). Reading activates and exercises the mind. It pushes us to use our imagination and make us more creatively inclined. If we develop in-depth knowledge, it will enable us to give our best to others and help to make a better world. It does not matter where we come from or what we look like. If we recognize our abilities, are willing to learn and to use what we know in helping others, we will always have a place in the world. God created us, loves us, and wants to help us to realize our potential so that we can be useful to others. When we rely on our relationship with God, it also makes us more capable individuals. We should do our best and let God do the rest. If we acknowledge our need for God, he will help us. We do not have to be victims of circumstance. If we give our best we cannot lose. We are still able to grow as long as we are alive. If we want a successful life-a life of inner peace and of contentment-we have to work for it. God expects us to do our best at everything. By thinking big we can transform our world.

Books can help to solve psychological problems.
April 18, 2017

For the purposes of bibliotherapy, reading and sharing ideas, we foster a sense of belonging and empathy – is a way showing how to deal with feelings and solve a variety of challenges. Bibliotherapy is a kind of meditation, when reading people more clearly understand survived emotions. It helps to know others and to develop spiritually. Bibliotherapy can be applied to people of all ages, but particularly literature positively affect children. A child or teenager reading a text understands that the problem can be solved, that he can overcome it, that not only he alone meet such problem. This reduces the feeling of loneliness and promotes a sense of community, empathy, hope.

The books help to more openly talk about variety themes of child concern, even if it is painful experiences or losses. We can mention the bullying and parents divorce, even a passing illness, loss. These problems are reflected in different environments – home, school, among friends, in relation to himself. People investigating the bibliotherapy, say that it can become a way of showing how to deal with those feelings, experiences, how to deal with different challenges.

Reading can help reduce aggression. We can talk about anger and its management and stress, various fears and their overcoming. Even about how to build friendship and to maintain it. For the purposes of bibliotherapy, can talk about difficulties in adapting to the school environment, for example, by changing it or just starting to attend. It is also about school conflicts. Bibliotherapy process begins with the identification of issues or problem

First we need select specific theme, such as parental divorce or bullying. Then we should choose literature that reflects the theme that would offer not only to recognize and meet the problem, but also would show how to deal with the situation, feelings, what are the alternative ways to solve your severity or the challenge.

Selected text should be consistent with the age of the participants. It is important, whether it applies to a child or adolescent, or adult. Selected literary passage is usually not long. It is for the child to get involved, to focus for some time. Books for every age group are selected so that the participants can understand and get involved in the process.

Bibliotherapy is not just reading. It is complemented by creative writing or images exploration. According to the principles of bibliotherapy patient can successfully deal with films or cartoons. It allows deepening the subject in question, to empathize with it more, access deeper personal insights about the relationship with yourself, the environment and so on. So, bibliotherapy’s principles can be applied to video or watching its fragment.

While scientists and psychologists usually notice only the positive aspects of bibliotherapy, some of them draw attention to the shortcomings of therapy. For example, if the child lacks of motivation to read. As with any other therapy, bibliotherapy can be accompanied by resistance. This is normal because the topic is not always easy, pleasant. Naturally, there is resistance talking about serious topics, it is impossible to control all processes. Psychologists are also looking for ways to reach the younger generation, which spends the most time in the virtual space. For those who are not interested in a particular book, are offered virtual bibliotherapy sessions. The world really is changing and psychologists have to adapt their services.

Pleasure Of Reading

According to Francis Bacon, “Reading maketh a full man; conference a ready man, and writing an exact man”.  There is no doubt that reading has many advantages.  By reading only a person can become a complete man, because by reading he acquires knowledge and wisdom.  Books widen our outlook and place the treasure of knowledge before us.  By reading good books we can also acquire noble virtues.

Reading of books is also a great pleasure.  It gives us peace of mind and satisfaction.  It is also a great source of recreation.  Of course, a person who has developed the hobby of reading only can enjoy all the benefits of reading.  In reality, every person should develop the good habit of reading. When we feel tired and dull, the books of great writers give us peace of mind and make us optimists.  These books contain  many valuable ideas which guide our life.  Books also inspire us to work hard and achieve success in our life.

By reading books, even our natural talents are also developed, because we get inspiration from them.  Reading is an intellectual food for mind.  Just as we need the food for our body to work properly, similarly, we also require food for our mind and soul.  Thus, we are that there are many pleasures of reading.  But these pleasures also depend upon the type of books which we read.  Good and inspiring books can lead us to a noble and successful career in life.  On other  hand, bad books can adversely affect our tastes and lead us to ruination in life.

Bacon has rightly said that some books are to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.   Thus a good book has to be chewed and digested.  Such a book may have a lifelong influence on the life of the reader.  For example, reading of Gita, the sacred book of the Hindus, has a lifelong influence on the readers.  It teaches many good and moral principles to the reader.  It also teaches a person the theory of `Karma Yoga’, which means that we should do our duty sincerely and should not bother about the fruit (result).

There is doubt that different persons choose different books according to their tastes.  But it is necessary that the young boys and girls should choose the books for reading very carefully.  They should not waste their time in reading should not waste their time in reading very sensational type of novels, because it has been noticed that the students of today only enjoy reading cheap romantic novels.  They do not take any pleasure in reading serious type of books or their own text books.  In reality, they lose all the interest in their own studies and waste their in reading useless books.

The fact is that there is nobody to guide the students as to what they should study.  The students should study the newspapers and popular magazines.  These increase their general knowledge and acquaint them with current national and international events.  They should also read the biographies of great men like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, etc., By reading the life stories of great men they will be inspired to follow in their foot steps.

Of course, reading for pleasure is quite different from reading under compulsion.  When we are reading something under compulsion, definitely our joy is killed.  On the other hand, we enjoy a lot when we read just for the sake of pleasure.  But we must make an intelligent selection of books which we want to read.  We must separate the chaff from the grain if we want to enhance our pleasure of reading.

The habit of reading should be developed in the children from the very beginning.  Thus, when they grow up, they can learn a lot and increase their knowledge.  But the young boys and girls should not read bad books which only pollute their minds.  Of course, books are the best companions of the youth, these can save them from falling in bad company.

To Teach Kids How To Write Is Just Let Them Read And Write
March 22, 2017

I just finished reading an article with the title “The Wrong Way to Teach Grammar“. I agree with what the author said, students learn more from simply writing and reading.

My eldest son is already 8 years old and he is supposed to be a second grader. I have not really spend time teaching him how to read and write yet, hence I am searching online for how Waldorf schools teach the students to read and write, then I came across this article.

I agree that we need to teach the kids how to write grammatically by letting them write, instead of just giving them the traditional grammar lessons. I do not know how native English speakers learn English or grammar, but as English is my second language, I was struggling in learning English when I was in school. I like English since I was young, and I think this is because I went to a kindergarten where encouraged the children to read and the teachers told us stories, instead of we just sat down there and listened to the lessons. It was an English speaking kindergarten where everyone has to speak English there, and the teachers were friendly. I guess that is why I like English.

When I was in primary school, we started to have English lessons by having grammar lessons and memorizing the vocabularies, but not by reading and writing. So, I was one of the people that the author mentioned that kept thinking of whether the sentence is grammatically correct, instead of enjoyed writing or expressing myself. As I did not get to read more English books or articles, I merely remembered the grammar lessons I learned and the limited vocabularies I could remember to write any essays. The worse is, I actually translated it from my native language in my mind and wrote down on paper in English. I always wanted to improve my English when I was in high school, and I just kept memorizing the vocabularies and reminding myself about the grammar. That was the way what I knew about learning English.

Until I went to college and met some English speaking friends, they told me how they learned English was via reading, reading and reading. They did not even know about grammar, what noun or verb is, but they could just write a beautiful article in no time and give a wonderful speech with confidence. Then I realized how I learned my native language, Chinese. I did not really learn how to write, but I just wrote. I did not care whether my grammar was correct and I did not memorize the vocabularies too. I just read many Chinese books, and always converse in Chinese, and that is why I can write and speak. It is habit of reading and listening, and just keep writing and speaking.

I started not to translate my sentence from Chinese to English when I learned to go online, chatted more with others in English and read more English articles. The more I read, the more I write, the more I listen, I do not even remember since when I can just write in English, without translating from Chinese. Though there are still a lot for me to learn and improve, I am happy I can at least just write and express myself, without keep worrying about the grammars and vocabularies.

This is also what I want to teach my kids – not to learn the grammar, not to memorize the vocabularies, but to enjoy reading and writing.

How did you start learning English? What do you suggest kids in learning how to write?

Two Tips to Handle Stress Right Away
March 16, 2017

Problems with people, surrounding, bad news, illness and decisions, these are all makes an individual feel stress. Stress doesn’t happen once a day because sometimes it happens all the time with some people. It becomes unfair when you are busy and have tight deadlines then you feel it. It will ruin your spirit, your focus, your goal, health and even your dreams. It is quite impossible to escape stress as it is part of everyone’s day, however, there are ways to lighten up a bit when facing it. There are ways to handle it and the right way to act on it.

Here are some of the ways to handle stress.

Talk to People, especially your close friends

Surely you have some people around you that you can talk about anything. They maybe your best buddy in the office that you know will be honest and loyal to you. That you can easily say about your weakness without a judgment. Talk to them. Tell what them what you really feel. Keeping your problems inside you will only lead you to feel panic and will lose your focus. When you locked yourself in the room it only leads you to overthink. You start to imagine things that are not happening.

Instead of keeping it to yourself, share it with people you trust. They might give you some ideas on how to handle it. You might never know they experience it themselves, for sure they will give you pointers on how to act on it. It will surely lessen the stress because you might never know that the person you are sharing your problems with handled the same problem with difficulty but they learned from it and now they know exactly what to do with yours. Share your problems to lighten up the heavy feelings.

Reading your favorite books, or any kinds of books for entertainment sake

I know some people, busy people to be exact, always have a book on their side. They always carry a book inside their bag. They say that they read books while traveling going to work or when they need to wait for someone. They read books because it keeps their mind wanders, this is for imagination sake. Instead of thinking about the problems, they will get their book and start reading from where they stop. They rather keep their mind busy and entertain. They said that they will act on the stress when stress comes out in a certain situation and will not bother to think about it a lot of times.

Reading will calm your brain. Don’t bother to be called a book smart or book worm because whatever it is, it is helping you. It avoids you from panicking. It helps you to temporary forget that you have a problem to deal with it. The best thing about reading is that it entertains you and you learn. It keeps you at rest and inspires you. If you have been relieving then it is time to face the problem with courage. Problems come and go. Problems always have a solution. You just need to handle the stress that will come out and forget about it.

Books and reading is a gifts for us.

To read – it’s not just a joy to spend interesting a spare time. Literature develops individually and universally, brings up the conscious, active and empathic person. Careful reading, filled with gratitude and rational criticism, is an opportunity to get acquainted with thinking, acting and different ways of life, belong to such time and space, where we have not been, did not live, what we did not know.

To dive between the pages of books, between the lines and between the linguistic, cultural, religious or social differences – it’s to discover the world’s multiple perspectives, to experience our connection with a people, communities and societies, which we have never directly knew. We share the world with them. With each book page, lives of these people supplement our world with novelty, clarity and knowledge.

Yes, reading is like a meditation for me. Ideally, reading we dive deeply, we lose ourselves, but only in order once again to come back into ourselves – already different ones, who have became a part of a new, enlarged world. Our thinking and action opens for a new criticality and awareness. All of this is our, active citizens of the world, property.

While reading, we feel other people pain and joy, looking at the expanse and extremes of the human existence, we learn how to live in this world and make it the most cozy place. No any political system will not work unless there will be human activity and sensitivity – in order to learn this, we must first learn to read. Not only books.

We must learn to read the world images and sounds, discover the true expression of the different languages, different forms of media, art, listening, acting, philosophy and religion. To read – it is constantly attempts to throw off beliefs what we knew, possibility to immerse our imagination into very vibrant, bright, and sometimes even controversial range of experiences. Perhaps it’s the only way to unravel the global confusion who we really are.

Reading reveals our skills needed for our steady growing, moving forward, maturation, strengthens the human being and our ethical obligations to live among those who are forever different from us.

Books are the tools, the means to help identify other stories, feats and experiences. It gives us the way to live in our own way without harming the freedom of others, without rough prejudices, assumptions and with a critical alive vision.

Books and reading is a gifts for us.

Make Money online by reading articles
February 20, 2017

How many articles are there about making money online? Thousands?  Millions? Enough? Probably. But there’s a problem. Too many of them are just sales pitches to convince you to sign up for some seminar, webinar, training session or some other way to become an online millionaire.

There are legitimate ways to make money online. The problem is that the real ways to make money aren’t “get rich quick” schemes.

I’m going to tell you about all kinds of legitimate ways to make money online.  Since we are talking about legitimate jobs, you’ve got to be…well, legitimate. Many of these options are real jobs that require you to put in hours if you want to get paid. They also require real work. Here are some tips for actually getting the job:

  • Take it seriously. Yes, you’re applying for an online job. Yes, you can do the work in your underwear, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a “real job”. You must treat it as such or they aren’t going to treat you as a serious candidate. You aren’t the only one who wants to work in their underwear. In fact, the competition online is likely higher than it is in your local area.
  • Be professional. When you submit a résumé, don’t type it in ALL CAPS and please don’t avoid the caps lock like the plague. Know how to use it without looking incompetent. Write in complete sentences with proper grammar. Of course, there will be exceptions, but even with the exceptions, you must keep it professional. You’re building their view of you.
  • Give some, but not all.  Whether you’re providing writing samples, a photography portfolio or links to your work, give them enough examples to get the idea, but not so many that they don’t even know where to start. And while we’re on the topic, give them some of your background information, but don’t tell them your life story.
  • Double check yourself, before you double wreck yourself. Make sure everything you send to a company, whether a résumé, an email or a portfolio, is good to go. Double check your grammar and wording, and for God’s sake use spell check! This is especially important when it comes to the company’s name. Don’t spell their name wrong and be sure to type it how they type it (e.g. Problogger, not Pro Blogger).

Feed Yourself With Sufficient Knowledge Through Reading
February 13, 2017

A person who does not read is comparable to a blind and deaf person. There is nothing he can share. His knowledge is so limited that he keeps on asking you about what is being talked about and what has been discussed. In a seminar- workshop for example, a participant may not be able to interact and share ideas due to limited knowledge of the issue. A student for example, after finishing a course and plans to take the board examination realizes during the exam day that he lacks sufficient knowledge especially the Education students, if they lack sufficient knowledge about Literature lessons in relations to writers especially American writers, the stories they had written and the elements of short stories, they will realize late they need to review past lessons or research more. According to Emerson, reading makes a man gain extra knowledge and through it he will become a true person in his filed and others that require in dept understanding for readings give value to readers.

Reading is an act whereby the reader becomes truly human. He will be equipped with stock knowledge. He is compared to a military man ready of everything, full packed to a journey to war before the combat to attack enemies start. There are also so many students this time that lack sufficient knowledge even to their chosen course; as a result, they surely flunk in the board examination. If what has been learned in the classroom is somewhat limited, it is not the reason why can’t you make your mind full of the potential knowledge equating yourself to the influx of barriers we have this time like technology the texting, the selfie, the browsing, the on line games and more that do not belong to the ideals your mind requires you to accomplish. Those portions in the technology will be in one way or another aid you to do something not found in your vocabulary of mathematics, physics, calculus and trigonometry.

It is never late to acquire a skill in reading. Reading is one of the communication skills that lead you to become a better professional in your chosen career someday. The reading you need to enjoy does not only give you information about what is happening around the world, foremost, it will help you improve your communication in writing. Writing, like reading is also another communicative skill everyone must acquire so that he can express his feelings and thoughts effectively.

In reading there is wonder; you can explore beyond your imagination. You can gather data and solve some critical and practical problems in life. Reading allows your mind to think critically and evaluate things that are at risks. You will be equipped with much logical reasoning. Go, go, go for reading, it is never late. Reading does not require age of a person for as long as having a habit on reading, anywhere you go, you are like a hungry detergent hungry of reading. If you are already a senior citizen, from a hearsay point -of – view reading prevents you to get sick of dementia and Parkinson’s disease, so useful skill every man must enjoy.

Reading may become a bad habit
November 28, 2016

The heading of this article may sound a bit ridiculous and surprising. But I am sure you will like it when you learn about my experience in this respect.

I agree with you that habit of reading is useful but you will see that sometimes it becomes bad for you.

Let me share my experience with you.

Having received an offer for a job, I reached there an hour before the time fixed for the interview. I had a small note book in which I had noted down some important points I wanted to go through before my interview.

So I sat outside the office and studied the notes.

Another candidate came to me and we had exchange of some words.

Then without wasting any time, he started asking questions like –where are you from? Why do you want to join this office? What is your qualification? etc. I replied some of his questions. Actually I was not in a mood to reply. I tried to discourage him, but he was not the one who would go on back foot.

I tried to ignore his presence and focused on my note book once again.

He came very close to me and fixed his gaze on my notes.

It was really very embarrassing to me.

I finished one page and wanted to shift to the next but he put his hand on the notes which apparently meant that he also wanted to complete that page.

After a few moments I tried to go to the next page but once again he stopped me.I was totally confused and did not know what to do. Thank God he himself turned the page and shared reading with me.

In the meantime he pulled the note book very slowly and as a result now it was lying between him and me.

We both went on fixing our eyes on the written material.

It was really a perplexing situation and I was not quite used to it. Anyhow we both continued. In the meantime he gave a mild pull to the notes and as a result he could study easily while I had difficulty.

I don’t know when he gave another pull and strange enough to say that now he was in full control of the notes.

So what could I do now?

The notes were in his hands and I had to request him to let me study.

He nodded which meant that he had allowed me to share reading with him.

So my friends, I hope you agree with me that sometimes reading may become a bad habit. It is bad on the part of that fellow who wanted to read from my note book. Have you ever had this type of an experience? Would you like sharing it with me?
