There’s Hope Around This Sunshine

The sun is shining oh so brightly

How many appreciate the rays from the sun?

There is joy when the sun is viewed at so many different angles

There is peace when being exposed the the sunny delights and the shadows beneath the Islands pace

My face is glowing knowing that I’ve been giving the ability to in take the views

I’m amused by what the sun has offered “thus” far and what will the sun generate tomorrow?

There is hope, there is prosperity, and abundance.

My prayers shall be answered and there will be more “looks” at the sunshine. Written by: Tanikka Paulk

The Joyfulness Incurred as a Poet

The wonderfully expression which are oh so deep

There are many words needing to gain the exposure

A poet’s dream and an expressive hidden team

What shall there be waiting at the end of the poetic’s journey?

Many may try to take a guess

There are some really appreciating what a poet has to say

The words flowing about and the scenes projected

There are many desires to being, becoming, and transforming the poetic vision

There is the pen to paper.

The exceptional wordy gifts within the poet is right here

How many enjoy poetry placed on the digital sheets with lots of sweets

My experiences as a Writer and Poet certainly has been an interesting one by: Tanikka Paulk

There has been past focus on the poetic journey to be able to be expressive is such a joy. How many poets adore their gift or gifts? I’m so grateful that I’ve been given many opportunities to allow my poetic juices to shine. There will be continuous movements towards “being expressive.” There were awards generated because of having such a gift and I’m surely thankful for the ability to write on paper and to project the words on technology. (Tanikka Paulk)

Poet’s Journey Amen!

My poetic journey isn’t yet complete

There are many reasons to sing the songs of expressions

The grounded feelings and butterflies chasing the alphabet

There are so many avenues directed here my words can be encouraging’

Perhaps some refrain from viewing what talents arise

No matter how slumber the days may seem there will be poetics dreams

The findings in which I’ve founded so

There are many hills to climb which so many may not know

Where will the expressions travel?

Many hours in between and there will be the continued dreams

Here are words expressed so deeply and so many may not even appreciate what is stored. There should be allowing to be able to be expressive. There should be concentration on the abilities. I’m going to continue to write and jot down the words in which comfort me=Tanikka Paulk. There is progress within my poetry and there will be more words projected so that the entire world can see.

One of the unsolved mysteries about the Atlantic : TRUE OR MYTH?

They mention that Atlantis was as big as a continent !!

A great archaeological discovery at the bottom of Lake Van in Turkey again lightens the scenarios for the lost Atlantis.

Platonas say it was an island located on the seabed of Gibraltar The existence of the hidden city in the Antarctic “confirmed” according to the absurd theory of an ancient map, known as the Piri Reis map, which allegedly written in 1513 AD

The letter to Christians explains how Atlantis was created and because it was circular like a ring, with a sea and a small island in the middle (just like the ancient Thira just before the big blast). “When the gods shared the earth, Neptune received Atlantis and handed it to the sons of the demigods to cultivate it. One of them married Lefkipi and they made Kleito, whom Poseidon fell in love with, and he wanted to make her forever. Then he chose a place and protected it with circular zones of fertile land and sea to ensure her heavenly life (as if we were seeing Crete along with the ancient Kallisti). ”

The name Atlantis is probably derived from the mythical giant Atlanta, which held the whole earth and the sky on its shoulders. According to the discoveries of American geologists Haiken and McKoy, made in Santorini in 1990, they all refer to the famous fresco found in the western building of Akrotiri. Here we see a beach of ancient Thira with a wealthy life on a central island that was drenched by the sea around. Just as he described Plato the lost Atlantis. And this islet is claimed to have disappeared from a major explosion that caused terrible earthquakes and smoke. According to Plato, the fumes were projected into the sky, 40 km high. If that was the case, then it certainly seemed to be on the shores of the Eastern and Central Mediterranean. People watched the nature’s rumors bewildering, seeing that they were watching Atlanta himself holding the sky on his shoulders.

Facts About Beauty but not Seen by Everyone.
July 21, 2017
0

The Beauty of NatureMost of us have heard this part of a song by Cecil Frances Alexander it goes…

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all. Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings, he made their glowing colours, he made their tiny wings.

That all things around us whether great or small, are bright and uniquely beautiful.

Sometimes you wonder if this beauty is noticed by everyone. On the contrary, should we simply say some of us don’t care? Or better still, could it be we tend to appreciate the unique attribute to these things differently?

Beauty exist in all kind of forms and shapes, in all kind of manners, also they differ from one subject to another. Unlike in mathematics where numbers beget numbers.

In this regards, you need to know where to look, how to find those elements that are so unique. It is also worth knowing that beauty is a combination of not just one but many characteristics, a good example is the personality trait.

A question was once directed to an audience. The kind of question that will make you readjust yourself on your seat when you hear them. Maybe the kind you had never contemplated on before you were asked. The kind that doesn’t involve the physical appearance and it goes – What is beautiful about yourself?

Ants on the face

In answering this puzzle, here are five elements to consider, which in turn help in evaluating yourself on how you are being perceived by everyone around you.

Like what do people actually think of you? Most importantly your friends – are you a good person or not, and how beautiful are you from the inside?

  • JUDGING THE BOOK BY THE COVER. Do you judge the book by its cover at a glance? Many people do this and often they get it wrong. Even more embarrassing when they have to apologise afterwards. In this case there’s more than meets the eye. What is on the surface might be the opposite of what defines a person. It’s like going into an art gallery only to overlook some artworks because you don’t consider them as piece worth viewing. But your admiration only came to life after you have been talked through the work by a professional, piece by piece, after which the beauty began to manifest before your eyes.

Teaching Honesty

  • HONESTY. The ability to be truthful. This is a beautiful thing to possess, as well as the best policy they say. Hard enough to trust oneself not to talk of someone else. Therefore, when you do find whom to trust, it means a sense of responsibility, reliability and confidence. So how trustworthy are you to everyone in your cycle? Everyone has this honest trait. On a normal ground it is in our nature to be honest at all times, that is the beautiful part of life. Anywhere in the world you go to, this element is present. A good example is when you are trying to get direction from a stranger, the basic fact is that you are likely to get an honest answer. Even-though, this is never the case for some people, but the good news is, there are more truthful and decent people out there.

Asking for Forgiveness

  • FORGIVENESS. Imagine a world without forgiveness the thought of existence would have been a mirage. When we don’t forgive, the opposite takes over (hatred) and this does not always have good report. Forgiveness is a beautiful element you don’t physically see in people, but you only get to find this out only when you take the pain to get to know them more. Those who have been able to discover the secret of forgiving others have taken up the habit of doing so. Why, because hatred has no place in prosperity.

Being Generous

  • GENEROSITY. This is another aspect of human beauty not everyone do recognise. It is the practice of giving aids, power, resource, offering time, assets and many more without expecting anything in return. It reflects the individual passion to help those in need, purely, it’s a matter of the heart. People go beyond their ways to make sacrifices in helping others in time of their needs.

Animal Showing Compassion

  • COMPASSION. Again, is a heart thing, the kind of feelings or emotions we have when we see others suffering. Perhaps, could trigger a burning desire to render a helping hand. Not everyone has this instinctive tendency of empathy in them when they see others in a disadvantaged situation.

The question is how often do we get motivated when we see the need to show compassion to someone.

Generally, beauty is in everything and everyone around us. For the fact that beauty comes in different forms and shapes, means everyone deserves a chance to prove his or herself, before they are being labelled.

Even the little things are so beautifully unique in their own way. We can only know this if we stop to have a closer look. They come in various versions, all completely different. Inside and outside, but more of the inside because that’s where the power house is.

Waiting For Prey – Widow Skimmer Perked Up

Widow Skimmer Libellula luctuosa Dragonfly Nature Insect Texas Portrait sm10 K_4275

Libellula (lat), Libelle (germ.) sounds much nicer as the English dragonfly as it invokes a fire-spewing monster or a nerving, buzzing pest in one word.  Well this one here, is a Widow Skimmer (Libellula luctuosa) that belongs to the group of the king skimmers perched up on a stick, either warming up or waiting for prey.

Even though we don’t have standing water on our property, where the nymphs are living, molting and growing to finally emerge out of the water and transform for a last time into a dragonfly, they are pretty numerous this year. They are actually nice cohabitants to have as they normally prey after mosquitoes and other small insects. Due to late rain and quite a high humidity, we sure have enough of the little stingers around, so I hope the dragonflies will be doing their homework.

By the way this is a young adult, where the thorax and abdomen haven’t turned to steel blue yet. Juveniles are still spotting the yellow sides with brown stripes, as females often do, before their body turns brown. But this youngster is already showing the white (male) characteristics after the basal black on his wings.

A quick guide to take pictures of these graceful beings are early morning hours, when they are still warming up for the day to come, some may even have a little dew on their wings. Just be patient, sometimes it’s worth waiting and following a dragonfly till it sits down and then they can become approachable. Spend several minutes watching how they fly around, as they often follow the same pattern over and over. This applies also, if you would like to try to catch a dragonfly in flight. Patience is the key word here.

If you are interested in following dragonflies or damselflies odonatacentral.com is a great site to identify and name these fliers.

Parrots are the most elusive birds when it comes to capturing them in my camera
April 18, 2017
6

Our garden is designed with birds in mind.  Little did I dream that among the birds that visit we would also see parrots although they do not come anywhere near us and not even to the birdbath. They are always seen high up on trees. I hear the parrots when they arrive on the scene.  I rush to  get my camera to trap them but whether it is their sharp ears or sharp eyes they vanish from the scene even before I open the door to get into the garden.

That apart being green in colour they camouglage with the environemtn around and to stop is a toutgh thing for a photographer.

Parrots are choosy.  They do not eat all the fruits that grow in our garden. They do not like mangoes but their favourite is bilimbis and star fruits.

There was a tornado in our property a couple of years ago and our star fruit tree got copped off bring the branches low down. There were countless fruits but the parrots did not come.  They were not confident of coming down. It was a sad time for us as most of the fruits were wasted as we hardly have them ourselves.

But when the tree was high up every single fruit would be minced and dropped down – again not a happy situation as our friends always wanted to take a few for them.

I have never liked the idea of trapping parrots in cages. I like to see them flying around in the garden and enjoying their freedom. Here is a video clip that captured these parrots in action

However, one wonders whether they truly like being there and getting all the fuss. They are trained to talk and perhaps they feel important when they are able to utter those few words.

With concrete jungles mushrooming everywhere a day will not be far when birds will have nowhere to go as more and more trees would be cut down making place for buildings.

This bird is unique and we visits us often
April 18, 2017

Cats are always seen in the vicinity of our bird bath and each time we heard the sound of a cat we would run to chase it away but we could not see any cat.  Strangely our pet Preiti never came to chase as it never tolerated strange cats in our garden.  I found this behaviour of Preiti pretty strange.

I later realised that Preiti was smarter than us human beings as that sound did not come from a cat but from a bird.  Not only was there the sound of the cat there were chirps of several birds and on checking I could not find any birds.  Parrots never came anywhere near the birdbath nor did any whistling bird was found around.

It was a shock to me to see that all these sounds came from one bird – Drong – Greater Double Racket tailed.

I was now determined to capture those sounds in my camera.  I waited for this bird to arrive. Strangely it came alone and never had any company.  No other birds were seen around whenever this bird came for the swim

I got an opportunity one afternoon. I kept my camera in the zoom mode and waiting patient;y And the  Drongo arrived.  It did not see me and I was able to capture every sound it made in my camera – a precious gift I thought this bird gave me.

It is amazing what nature has in store for us.  In the limited sphere I am in I least expected that one day I will get this rare opportunity to spot a bird with such rare capabilities and that too visiting our garden and being a regular visitor.

We have many other birds including peacocks that roam around without fear.  Of late we see them on top of our roof and stay there for hours.

Birds that visit our garden every single day rain, or shine
April 18, 2017

Our garden is designed with birds in mind. They have everything that they need to live a comfortable and happy life though sadly of short duration.

They have trees to perch on, fruits to feed on, and lush greenery everywhere. The most important need i s for them to quench their thirst and frolic in water.
This bird bath takes care of that

BIRDBATH1

In the initial stages no bird was confident to get in there. They had to feel the water as it is called and gradually every single bird that visited our garden would be found there frolicking.

The saying ‘birds of a feather flock together’ is proved here. Mostly only one species of birds will get together and have their fun. But every single species get their turn.
They are mostly seen at noon time when the sun it at its peak. The chirp is music to our ears even though that may disturb our siesta.
The biggest group are these tiny birds that get together and frolic in the shallows. Their baby chirps are soothing to  the ears

babybirds

There are some who prefer the mornings specially the cuckoos.

Once they have had enough fun they will perch on near by trees and preen their feathers which is yet another sight worth watching.
It was surprising to see crows too. Their splashes would be so loud that the whole neighbourhood could perhaps be alerted of their presence

vlcsnap-2017-04-18-12h36m22s816

Fortunately my ever obliging camera has a zoom feature that let’s me grab every precious moment and capture it. Here is a video clip of a group of birds creating a shindig while enjoying their time in the bird bath

It is quite remarkable how these birds know that there is a place where they can quench their thirst and cool themselves whenever they feel like it. They may even alert other birds who are new arrivals.

I don’t like summer season
March 18, 2017
1

Summer has finally arrived.I don’t like this season.

Summer is hottest, longest & in some respects, most tiring season in India. It begins generally middle of March & lasts almost until the end of June.

During earlier part of this season, weather is dry, mild, & agreeable. However, every day it gets warmer and warmer until in May and June heat becomes intolerable.

The sun’s rays are so strong that it is almost impossible to stir out during the middle of day.while sometimes hot wind blows all day long, scorching faces of men & choking them with dust.

Fruits of various lands ripen in long summer days. Summer is also time for holidays, colleges, schools, and most educational institutions remain closed for two months during summer.

In summer, few hours of the morning are pleasant. In March sun does not become too hot before noon. But by April sun becomes hot by 10 a.m.

sun becomes very hot by noon in May and June and scorching winds also begin to blow. People can not come out of their homes & all work remains suspended till evening. They can not work even inside their houses because of heat. Moreover, they dont feel energetic & a sort of dullness comes over them. They feel sleepy in afternoon. They shut all doors & take rest in coolest part of the building.
People in town have got many amenities which are not available to villagers. Therefore, townsmen can reduce discomforts of summer to great extent, if they can afford to spend money. In towns, people get electric fans, air conditioners, to cool them & ice to quench their thirst.

In spite of these disadvantages the farmers welcome summer, because it brings clouds which give them rain. Though we dislike heat and dust of summer, we await it anxiously because we get sweet mangoes during this season.
