Skinfood Balsamic Oil Peeling Mask (Review)

Skincare is one of my latest “thing” these days. One of the things I try to do regularly is to peel off dead skin cells from my face. I realized that since giving birth, my skin has become a little bit more “dry” especially during winter. Of course, keeping my skin hydrated  is still the best and most important step to make sure I don’t experience dry patches on my skin but of course, I also wanted to get rid of those annoying dead skin in my face. One option to do this that I never liked is using “beaded” facial scrubs. I never like having something “rough” rubbing against my face so the next option I thought is to use a peel-off mask.

Skinfood is a Korean brand I only knew recently and I already bought a number of products from this brand. I love the mission and vision of the brand that aims to use “natural” products good enough to eat. So for this task, I bought Skinfood Balsamic Oil Peeling mask.
I love the simple packaging. It makes it really easy to get the product and to make sure you squeeze just enough to use. The product has a sticky consistency and the smell is quite pleasant. I am familiar with Balsamic vinegar so I initially thought that the smell would be acidic (vinegar-ish) but the light scent from the product is actually kind of sweet!
So I washed my face and towel dried it to prepare for the peeling mask. I made sure there are no wet spots so the product will stick to my face and dry entirely. After drying my face, I squeezed about a coin-size amount of product to my fingers and made sure to spread evenly throughout my face, avoiding my eyes. I try not to put too much in one area so it dries at the same time as the rest of my face. I think it took me 3 coin-sized amount of product to cover my entire face with it (cheeks, chin, forehead, T-zone).
After spreading the product evenly, I waited for it to dry for about 10 minutes and let it sit there for 10 minutes more. As the product dries, I can feel it almost stretching my skin. After about 20 minutes, I decided to peel it off, starting from the chin. I have to say that this is my favorite part of the entire regime, LOL! I don’t know but there is a certain feeling of accomplishment peeling off the mask and seeing dried skin bits in it!
I “washed off” the remaining product (if any) by applying toner to my face. I can definitely see and feel that my skin is rejuvenated. My face has no dry skin anymore and I can still feel the “tightness” even after a couple of minutes of removing the mask.
Overall, Skinfood Balsamic peeling mask has become one of my favorite products to use for my skin. I didn’t get any allergic reactions to it and I never experienced any stingy sensation while applying the product to my skin. It is also a good value for money since I only paid for $7.50 for the 120ml tube + shipping.

    • glad to hear this is working out for you. i think what you may have is called a pregnancy mask. i am glad this oil is helping out.

      • I didn't know there is such thing - thanks for letting me know! I just noticed that my skin tends to get flaky during winter since giving birth. It never happened to me before so I just have to do something about it!

    • Balsamic thing gives a soothing feeling and it gives relief to our feeling too.I am so happy for you this balsam you mentioned here gives no allergy to you.

      • Oh definitely - I don't mind buying this again in the future when I ran out. But that might not happen anytime soon since I only do this peeling thing once a month and only needed very little of the product to cover my entire face.

    • Facial mask is a kind of skin care product that you apply on your face. It is considered as one of the easiest ways to get healthy and supple skin within a few minutes. Also as face masks are designed for different skin and age types, it is highly recommended to include it to your skin care routine.

There are a variety of facial masks available in the market. Some of the face masks are to be worn at night, while you are sleeping. There are also face masks that you can use before taking a bath or shower for a short time period. Even face masks can be made at home with the help of some easily available ingredients from your kitchen. No matter which type of mask you choose to wear, keep in mind that it will hugely benefit your skin.

Usually a facial mask product is to be used for a short period of time on the face. It takes only a few minutes to apply, and then you just have to wait for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it off. The process of applying a face mask is simple and easy and it gives you immense benefits.

    • Though the price is reasonable and the smell is good we should know that it is having vinegar in it. Vinegar can be helpful in peeling off the dead cells from the skin but if it is used regularly it may damage the skin also.
I generally do not prefer these chemical products. I use only butter and cucumber mask. They are always safe and more organic in nature without any side effects.
There is one more product entered into the market. This is Almond mask. This is also very nice and safe to use.

    • yea balsamic is good but oil based is not for all, i tried it and got red spot on the face. the doctor said its allergy to the formula now i use only brands, though pricey but still its good to use sometimes, also using olive oil alone helped my skin and i use it for makeup removing, its awesome and has not artificial formula but it has to be good quality
