If you are unfamiliar with the term “happy hour”, it is a common phrase used here – it is a certain time of the day where most restaurants offers discounted drinks and appetizers or sometimes select entrees usually for 50% off. The time of happy hour is usually around the time one would get off work to right before dinner starts, like 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The time varies depending on restaurant and not all restaurants have happy hour.
Sometimes I like to take advantage of happy hour when I am not familiar with the restaurant so I could get an idea of the food they serve, how the food tastes and if I like the food enough to return in the future.
However, there are other times when I would go to happy hour and that is with co-workers like on a Friday evening or with friends. This is a great time to dine out because it fits everyones budget!
Above are two happy hour appetizers I purchased to share with my boyfriend.
What are the food items we ordered?
- Pork Dumplings which consist of, silantro, green onion, tomatoes, and ponzu chili /soy sauce dipping sauce
- Crab & Shrimp Dip which consist of, artichoke, romano, served with grilled herb flatbread
During regular business hours, the pork dumplings appetizer which is literally bite size is $7, but during happy hour it will be half off so $3.50 is more worth the price.
During regular business hours, the crab & shrimp dip appetizer which is a generous amount and we have ordered this regularly too, is $10.50, but during happy hour it is only $5.25.
Overall: As you can see, you can save a lot of money during happy hour time and the appetizers are the same size for the cost – no different between regular business hours and happy hour!
