Not fair when asked to choose the best looking flower

I am a member in a garden forum and there we are asked to post a picture of flowers that we consider to be the  best looking in our garden. I have not less than 50 to 60 varieties.

I took hours to search for what I considered to be the best and still could not point a finger at anyone. For me they are all the best – every single one of them.

Look at the bougainvillea collage. Would you not think it to be the best? Let me just enlarge one. Every single one there is as beautiful

as this one.

I have roses too

Could this be the best?

Not really. There are others in there wanting the first position.

Then I have anthuriums that are no less beautiful

very healthy with lush green leaves. Can I just ignore them?

Oh yes. Would you like to see a photo of the gerberas that grow in my garden?

Can I just walk past them?

There is a season for lilies. They would be offended too if I did not add them in my final selection – yes, final selection as I have to select just one.

Looking outside the guestroom window the garlic vine strikes one’s eyes and here again how can one not look at it and go past it?

I decided to be a bit ruthless and ignored the rest and there it was tugging at me – the bird of paradise. This flower stays for months to feed my eyes.

I had to put a brake somewhere and the best I thought would be to have a conference of all the flowers in my garden. They understood my predicament and suggested that I do a “Eeney, Meeney Miney Moe”  That idea appealed to me and the simple, humble Alamanda got to be chosen. I have made it feature image here. I am not disappointed. Although it is a simple flower needing no maintenance it has grown so beautifully almost reaching the sky.

Alamanda come in two sizes and they are always obliging. They have no season per se although they do best during the monsoon season. They also increase in size. A good indicator that they love water. They have a mild perfume too.

Keeping my fingers crossed as there in that garden forum I am sure there will be great flowers being showcased coming from all over the world.

Hoping the humble alamanda gets to be famous.

    • oh your garden must be very huge!
Otherwise, how could you be able to plant so many varities of flowers??
I do admire your flowers here posted, they are simply beautiful, awesome and fascinating.
May I know how did you grow them?
I once had bougainvillea but my MIL forsake it, and withered.
Then I got the branches from my neighbor, and planted them in the flower pot.
      Just the branches without roots,
Now, it is growing new leaves, still a baby plant.
I do hope that it will grow up big with flowers.
Do the leaves keep fading and withered often?
I scared to death when it happened last month.

    • Yes I do have a big garden around 20,000 sq ft of which some space is taken for my house and paths.I have a lawn on the terrace with a few rose plants.
If there are new shoots and then they wither it is a cause for concern.

    • Everything on nature created by God are the best and fair that is why the best choice is very very difficult for men and women.

oses have long been associated with motherhood, making them a popular choice on Mother's Day. Roses were sacred to the Greek goddess Isis, seen as the ideal mother, and they also symbolize the Virgin Mary. Pink roses signify grace, elegance and appreciation, while yellow roses symbolize friendship and joy, so both colors are perfect to give your mom.

Tulips are traditionally associated with new life, charity and spring. With their grace and beauty, these flowers are always a popular option for Mother's Day.

The iris symbolizes affection and warmth, and some Christians associate the iris with the Virgin Mary. These gorgeous flowers come in a rainbow of colors, though white and blue irises tend to be more popular for Mother's Day.

I like these flower with my heart.

    • Each individual is unique so are flowers comparing one with the other is not a right thing to do. Looking at the flowers above I liked all of them as each is different in its own way and has its special qualities too. Your garden is colorful because of the riot of different colors which one is able to witness from above. Credit to the flowers and the owner of the garden for the share.

Maintaining a garden is a difficult task as if we would want to go out of our house there would be none to water the plants and they would wither away too. This was one reason why my mother would never go out as she had to tend to the plants in the garden. It is a joy watching them at different stages of their life.

They teach us the quality of selflessness as they provide us the happiness, the plants give us fresh air. There are also rose festivals in our country where flowers are spread over acres and acres all belonging to different varieties. Taking care of them in itself is an art. Thank for the visual treat.
