In my blog, I usually put the image after the paragraph introduction. Sometimes I put the image in the middle or depending its appropriateness. There are occasions that I place the image before the first paragraph to emphasize the image exposure for I am talking or writing about the event portrayed in the picture. I have been writing to my personal blog for 5 years already. My blog has received the high page views and a trust rating of 97% with the most visited site.

I’m learning every time. Thanks!  I did well with my latest forum post; the image came last. So, all good!

On the other site, I am on, where I do most of my writing, I never add a picture before the first paragraph. I usually save the picture for the featured picture. I will add a photo later down the article where it is needed. If one is needed. Some people don’t realize that there should only be a certain amount of pictures per xxxx amount of words written in the article. If you add to many pictures it will end up hurting your SEO for that article.

I’ve given up on this blogging tip. It’s here for others if they want to know.  Either some bloggers here have read it and ignored it or they never read it. There are posts that begin with a photo but still get approved by Admin / Support.   So since they get published, I consider this discussion CLOSED.

I am not aware of this simple rule. I tend to put photos before the compositions. I do think it also applies in writing a hard book. I will take note of this. Regardless, images can really attracts the readers.

Thanks for sharing this! How about featured images? I noticed in WordPress that we have the capability to set a featured image and while it doesn’t technically lie at the beginning of the content, if you view the link it shows on top. Does that affect SEO, too?

How could you post image in the first paragraph when there is noting to match with the image. For me what is important is approval of the post regardless on the writer’s reason why insert an image in between. I have blogs where I match them with images in the context of my writing and fortunately those were approved and published.

@nakitakona 13, me too, inserted images in between paragraphs and my posts were approved. We are not banned to use images as long as they matched with the context of our writing. I have almost 4 blogs having 3-4 images, and my blogs were approved and published. For me , what matters is the content . I am only citing my own opinion.

@Shavkat –   Yes!   Images do attract readers. The problem is that the people who wrote the search engine optimization program wrote it with TEXT in mind and not images. Didn’t know that when I started blogging. Now I am going back and editing my old blogs (outside of Literacy Base) and hoping to improve its presence in search engine results and rankings.

That’s the beauty and purpose of the Featured Image feature. The image appears at the beginning of the post. It makes the post visually appealing and does not have a negative impact on SEO. Another thing, which I am not good about doing, but it really should be done is putting in caption and a description. Nothing major. One to three words that describe the image.

cely –  Precisely!  This is not my site.  I don’t approve or disapprove anything here.  So if the site owners approve a post that begins with an image, this discussion need not be continued.  I was simply making a suggestion with nothing but good intentions for the success of this site and improving its rankings with the search engines.  🙂
