Animal Kingdom And Our Beautiful Planet The Earth

From the North Pole to the South Pole, and everywhere in between, our planet pulsates with the richness of  life. And to study the extraordinary diversity of life which is available on our planet  that makes our planet a visual delight, biologists have classified all living beings into five different biological groups which are called kingdoms and  one of which is called the animal kingdom.

This biological kingdom contains about ten million species different varieties of species and encompasses creatures as diverse as sea cucumbers, jellyfish, insects and birds to name a few. Animals can range from being tiny creatures which are just a collection of few cells to giant whales that have tongues as heavy as an elephant. From thumb sized bees to  humming birds to hundred feet long blue whales, the animal kingdom contains an array of fascinating species of varied shapes, sizes and colors which makes our planet a colorful and interesting place to live in.

Life which makes our planet so unique in the entire universe, began in the oceans millions of years ago and slowly journeyed to land thus slowly  spreading to all the corners of our planet earth,  which includes places which have been barely touched by humanity in different parts of the world. The first vertebrates to walk on land were the amphibians, but even they weren’t the most successful ones to have walked on the planet. This feat belongs to one intelligent species ‘ The Homo Sapiens or Human Beings’.

Theorized as emerging in the continent of Africa thousands of years ago, early human beings set off on the road to civilization. And over a long period of time these nomadic people who where basically hunter gatherers transformed into the now technologically advanced modern human beings who have conquered land, sea, air and have even left footprints on the surface of the moon too which is our nearest neighbor which is no ordinary feat.

Though they were phenomenally successful, human beings are as much a part of the animal kingdom big cats or  as doves who are avian species or whales who are the marine species or any other creatures on earth. The wonderful life forms which we find deep in the oceans, the birds that chirp in our gardens and all the other creatures and other life forms that make our planet so full of life are all our real friends  of the wild and we should love and protect them from any harm as we owe it to our future generations.

This is not because we belong to the same biological kingdom or share the same planet earth, but because because we should let gentle feelings of affection and care for animals and other life forms spring from our hearts as the simple fact that we are humans and are part of them too as we too are social animals. The word ‘human’ means one who is kind and compassionate and that is what we should be if we want to hand over our planet safely to our young generations to come. Do you not agree?
